The Wolftooth Necklace equipment description reads thusly:
In close combat, a model with a wolftooth necklace always hits on a roll of 3+ regardless of comparative weapon skills.

The 'Rolling to hit against vehicles' (p. 63 AoBR rulebook) says:
As the vehicle has no WS, the score for a hit depends on the speed of the target, as follows...

So the question is does a Wolftooth Necklace hit vehicles that moved on a 3+ rather than the standard 4+/6+ roll? Since a vehicle has no WS there is no comparative weapon skill but the Wolftooth Necklace allows a 3+ hit regardless comparative weapon skill. RAW looks pretty compelling to allow it.

I'd say RAW points the other way. The wolftooth necklace is like the old preferred enemy which has no effect on combat against vehicles without WS.

Does it mention Preferred Enemy or does it say in close combat a wolftooth necklace always hits on a roll of 3+ regardless of comparative weapon skills? Yes, weapon skill is mentioned but does that make the WtN exclusive to combats with units that possess a WS? Especially when it says regardless of comparative weapon skills, which by definition would disregard the value, or even existence, of an opponents WS.

I've already seen this argued on a different forum. Over there, the two camps were:
1) "regardless of comparative Weapon Skill" doesn't apply if the opponent doesn't have a Weapon Skill
2) "regardless of comparative Weapon Skill" does apply even if the opponent doesn't have a Weapon Skill
with a mix of comparisons to the old hit on X+ rules.

That's my take, yes. Targets without a WS don't invoke many of these special rules because they're covered by the vehicles in assault rules. Can't see a bit of tribal jewelry helping a wolfie hit, say, a skimmer moving fast on a 3+.

I would think that "regardless of comparative weapon skill" means you don't regard comparative weapon skill. On the down side this may mean problems with automatic hits per the vehicle chart since you always hit on a 3+.

Yes and codeci have items that modify or overrule the BRB all the time. I agree by fluff it's sort of silly (do they duel Rhinos in the tournament halls of the Fang?) but as has been said time and again, fluff is fluff and rules are rules.

Regardless of comparative weapon skill would mean you don't take comparative weapon skill (existent or not) into consideration.

No, a Wolf Tooth Necklace has no affect against non walker vehicles.

The land of cotton.

Technically you are not "in close combat" with the vehicle. You are not engaged, do not get consolidation moves, and can be shot at in the subsequent player turn even if you are in base to base with the vehicle.

Based on that I'd say the vehicle rules apply.

Green Git, you're thinking of 4th. In 5th it's not so clear cut. You stay in contact with the vehicle if it doesn't move away, get to attack it again in your opponent's turn, etc.

Needs a FAQ/Errata. RAW you always hit on a 3+. Which would mean skimmers moving fast but also immobilized vehicles. I play it as 3+ only against models with a WS, since that seems consistent with how it was previously. YMMV.

RAW says 3+regardless of comparative WS. Without a WS comparison to ignore, the vehicle rules should apply.
