Hey guys! I was going to start fantasy once done with my blood angels So I was wondering what army is better? Dwarfs or Wood elves?

You shouldn't be choosing an army based on which army is better currently, they will eventually be updated and then you could get stuck with an army that isn't as good anymore, and doesn't play the way you want it to (bad thing).

Wood Elves base the game more around controlling the Movement Phase and being able to isolate units (or some units) from the rest of the opposing army. Wood Elves aren't very resilient, but their Movement can really make up for it.

Dwarfs focus on dominating the Shooting Phase. They are also quite resilient. The Dwarfs are the slowest army around though, so deployment will be even more important for the Dwarfs then for any other WHFB army.

If your playing Blood Angels in 40K, I recommend Warriors of Chaos its one of the stronger books out now and can be flat frightening to face an army of 2+ armor save units.

Its also fun to get away from only seeing Khorne units, try out the mark of Nurgle, you won't be disappointed.

warriors of chaos wasn´t one of his choices. Talk about wanting to start completely opposite armies. Wood elves are generally considered better however dwarves are probably one of the better armies against the elves

Check out my website www.theonlinevault.net. It is currently for sale on Ebay so feel free to check it out

I find Dwarves the most boring army to play or play against. 99% of the time you are shooting at your opponent marching across the board until you get him stuck in your stubborn units for the rest of the game. Wood Elves have a much more dynamic movement phase and I feel more army diversity. The special characters also have a lot more flavor and two out of the three give you alternate army lists.

Both are competitive. In today's 7th edition I think Dwarves are better since they have a lot more high powered shooting to take down nasty stuff before it gets close. Wood Elves require you to dance around for a few turns to finally get that perfect combined charge off and now with ASF Black Guard, Grave Guard bunkers and 4+ ward Phoenix Guard even if you do it perfectly there's a good chance you'll bounce and then it's over. However they're still good and I have fun with mine.

I would recommend the Elves since I just think they're a much more fun army. Most Dwarf players seem to get bored of the army really fast unless they have a lot of love invested through painting and hobbying (at least in my area).

It's not such a terrible thing to suggest an idea the OP might not have considered; even better if he says "if you liked this in 40k you might also enjoy this in Fantasy."

Wood Elves are a difficult army to play well. They usually live or die by your poistioning and performance in the shooting phase. However, if you're familiar to 40k and think that you can pick up on the way Fantasy works, you can be a really tough, frustrating opponent. As Ixquic said, they're a fun, dashing army to play.

If you're afraid you might not have the patience or skill to play them as well as you'd like when you first start (my friend seems to have mastered them over the course of three games; I have no idea how though) I'd recommend Dwarves if you want a safer point of entry into Fantasy.

As others are saying, most people get tired of Dwarfs. The most competitive lists tend to be shooting ones where you just literally sit there and shoot as people come at you, then your tough units just sit in combat trading blows. They are, however, rumored to be getting a new book soonish (no idea how soonish). It might make them a bit more dynamic.

dwarves are boring only if you make them boring. When i used dwarves i used organ guns, rangers and miners and enjoyed myself every game. they are also very effective units.

i can't think of a good one............
