Interesting, and you gotta love how the NRA poked such a giant, gaping hole in the logic of the BNTF's "reasoning" behind reinstating the Brady Bill.
NRA: 1 BNTF: 0
Eat that "biscuit eating, tea drinking tree huggers".

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

I know, but the article didn't say tree huggers it simply mentioned people drinking tea and nibbling on biscuits as if that was a bad thing.

I think it was a stab at anti-gun lobbyists being mostly british or something...not implying that they are but it was obviously someones attempt at humor.

At this point you already know the "BNTF" doesn't really care about Mexican cartels.

Nope, just an excuse to get their way.
Still sad though.

Does the NRA contend that the sample of guns, sent by the Mexican Government for tracing is a biased sample and, if so, on what grounds?

1. the Mexican government specifically pulled them out and refuses to give access.
2. The sample noted are only the ones with serial numbers from one portion. Its also over a period of YEARS.
3. All the machine guns, grenades and full auto AKs they are using are not only illegal in the US generally, but you can't get them.
4. Other weapons traced have been from: surprise: Columbia, Venzueala and Mexican military. original manufacture points-Eastern Europe, China, and Cuba.
etc etc.

Let me see if I am understanding it correctly.
In 2008 nearly 30,000 illegal weapons were seized by the Mexican Government.
7,200 were submitted to BATFE for tracing.
6,700 were traced to US sources (gun shops?)
The NRA suspect that the Mexican Government hand picked the sample in order to deliberately bias the results to give the impression that a larger proportion of the seized weapons originated in the USA than is really true.
Illegal weapons in Mexico come from a number of sources, not just the USA. The most dangerous weapons, such as military machine-guns, aren't available in the USA anyway.
Does that sum it up?

Except for the "suspected" part. It was stated by the Mexican government, if you dig down.

Is that in the NRA's page or in a different report?

Different report. I never go to the NRA or ABC news website-they are so busy they almost give me epileptic fits.
Rephrase that, I'll go to the NRA website to look at shooting events or types of shooting competitions.
