I started playing RE4 on my PS2 today on Professional difficulty, and I'm having a bit of a problem fighting Ramon Salazar. How are you supposed to kill him WITHOUT a rocket launcher?

hmm... im sure it had eyes were the joints (knees?) were on its huge legs shoot those ..hmm..yeah !XD

With salazar the trick is to keep moving, relocate as much as possible, use flashbangs when the weakness appears. At least I think, its been a while since I played through 4. Remember watch out for that hand of his.

PROTIP: If that fails, shoot Salazar until he dies.

agreed. MOVE ALOT. And yes you can shoot the eyes on his knees to basically stun him. But uh.... you REALLY need a rocket launcher lol

Uh... Salazar is that short guy who merges with the big plant-thing on a wall. You're thinking of the end boss, Saddler, who turns into a big spider sort of thing.

Use the sniper rifle to shoot his egg shell, then shoot him when he pops out. Use the semi auto sniper btw.

Also to make some quick cash, when you get the 12 gauge again, sell it, same as the heat scope.

There's this thing called a Broken Butterfly. It's one of the most powerful magnums in the game. You don't need a rocket launcher, just to be patient and quick on the buttons.

I know that's why I mentioned his hand, the hand has an eye weakness I believe.

From what I remember you need to attack that eye, then when that basket opens you hit salazar, repeat until dead.
also on the bottom level of his chamber, there is a ton of ammo and grenades, which prove to be useful.

Managed to beat him last night. Man, that eye is really hard to hit though, and it was even harder because I had no shotgun ammo (so no easy hits on the eye). I found the Broken Butterfly much more efficient than the semi-auto rifle.
