Hi all,
Here is my Arjac Rockfist attempt. I've modelled him from an example build i saw in the October WD, it also looks a little like the body position in his drawing in the codex ;-) .
I wanted the shoulder to be personal, so the wolf head clutching a hammer shape represents his fame with a hammer and the stars either side represent Grimnars champion.
I think the hammer needs work and I'm not overly pleased with the shield.

Any tips greatly appreciated!
Cheers.

He looks a lot more dynamic than mine currently. However, my rockfist is being converted from the ABOR termi leader dude.

The SW termie models are just such a sweet place to start.

Nice job! I was going to say paint some dents/chips in his armour but it looks like you've already did that in some locations. I'd suggest adding a bit more just for some added awesomeness. Other than that, perhaps a bit more definition to the folds/highlights in his cloak, and it'll look even better than it already is.

Your Arjac is fantastic!

Not sure what tips I could give you...

I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Awesome Arjac. I wanna make one too, using a similar pose from the WD for this month. I also like the embroidery on the lining of his cape, very awesome and regal, for Logan's bodyguard and champion.
I think the wolf on the shield should be black, cause the space wolf grey doesnt seem to mix too well with all the gold, imo, though on a technical level what you have done is very good.

In the Codex, Arjac also has an anvil sitting atop his armour, above his head. Might be hard for you to do since you used the bear cape, but I was gonna cut off a Thunderhammer head, and put it on top just to represent that anvil.

Also, when you painted that Space Wolf armour, did you use the same steps as GW does? (the half Shadow Grey/Space Wolves grey base coat)

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah the shield- i was going for a glowy runic effect per the guide in the Oct WD, but i'm missing ice blue and regal blue and ended up mixing a colour that just looks like space wolf grey and i've not achieved the desired 'glowy' effect. Think i'll definately revisit it.

Think i'll try and add some highlight to the cloak on the raised areas :-)

Thanks again!

Haha, that's if I play him ;-) also he's considerably less denim, now that i've discovered shadow grey!

I also thought of this, i've cut off the hammer head that has one side as a wolf head, not painted it yet but as you say with the bear cape it's perhaps a bit much. Great minds... ;-)

I undercoated him with shadow grey (no black) then used 50:50 shadow grey/space wolf grey which i've mixed into a pot for consistency. Then used devlan mud in the recesses for a dirty look that isn't too dark

The highlights just inside the rim of the shield look like they could be touched up/blended a bit more. Otherwise, very nice.

Also, nice job reminding me that I need to set up some trades for those cloaks.

Looks great man. As to the shield I'm gona agree with Dogma, the highlights need to be thinner, and maybe another layer or two of highlight, it looks like just one color at the moment. But... Great job he looks a lot better than what I can do! lol
