EDIT: Shep successfully browbeat me into something a bit more coherent and themed with some fun conversions.

This is for the Tale of Many Gamers that my local game store in Santa Monica is doing. The rules are basically 500 points for the first month and a half and then 250 points per month.

I am drawing the inspiration for my army from what I consider a really cool part of the Crimson Fists history that is summed up nicely here in this quote from the Space Marine Codex (pg 90):

"When Waaagh! Snagrod hit Rynn's World, Kantor was one of a handful fortunate enough to survive the rogue missile strike that levelled the Crimson Fists' fortress monastery. Kantor witnessed the rippling explosions that tore the heart from his Chapter, but set aside his grief to consolidate what power he still commanded. Weighing up his options, Kantor resolved to make for New Rynn City, where a small force of Crimson Fists stood as sentinels alongside the local garrison. The trek took ten days through a landscape choked with rampaging Ork warbands. During the daylight hours Kantor and his men were forced to seek shelter where they could - lying up against the ruins of a farm one day, hiding out in an abandoned quarry the next. Kantor arrived at New Rynn City wearied to the bone, and his armour slick with the blood of slain Orks. Scarce half of the Crimson Fists who had embarked upon the journey survived to reach the city gates, and not a man amongst them arrived without a score of wounds. Yet still their resolve never faltered."

I am intrigued by the story hidden in there and have decided to theme my army around that. Obviously Kantor would be there. I also don't go for the whole "sneaky power armored giants" idea so figured that it would have be a convoy that traveled at night and is beat to hell.

So, my new 500 point list - I will get a pic up after paint night once I have some of it built.

  Troops
  5 Scouts (Power Fist)
  5 Scouts (Cloaks, Missile Launcher)

  Elite
5 Sternguard (Rhino, 1x Heavy Flamer, 2x Combimeltas)

Librarian	100	Terminator Armor, Storm Shield
  Pedro Kantor	175

  Troops
  5 Scouts (Power Fist)
5 Scouts (Cloaks, Missile Launcher, Telion)

Most of the models are built for the 500 point combat squad and I started a bit of painting - I just need to do 4 sniper scouts (and my Telion conversion)

Nice work on the marine poses, they all look super-dynamic. Does beakie have a heavy flamer?

Who is stood between the two Land Speeder Storms?

Sternguard look cool, but I think you should re-pose the HF marine. I can see you were going for a dynamic pose, but
  a. the flamer should be held as if it's pretty heavy, ie he might be using both hands
  b. since he's the squads support weapon, he should be scanning for targets or firing, not running about with a chainsword

Sorry for the indepth criticism, it's a sign of how cool I think crimson fists (and your TOMG project) are

The solo model is actually just a missile launcher - I am sketching out my Telion conversion but that is for month 2

@ag09 - the beakie does have a heavy flamer, I cut the termie heavy flamer off at the elbow and replaced it with a regular power armor arm

@I-bounty-hunt-the-elderly - I added the chainsword because the model needed some kind of counterpoint to the big heavy flamer - I am not sure that the chainsword does enough, I might replace it with a bigger ork version. I also put the deathwatch veteran shoulder on it and am hoping that the silver army will help counterbalance it.

the running legs are actually an in-game convention I came up with for my sternguard - the assaulty combat squad has running legs, the combi-meltas and shooter guys have standing legs

These are looking good Somnicide, I do love me a bit of Dorn loving!!

The Sternguard, imho, need some more purity seals/ laurels/ veteran-like bits as the two red fists isn't usually enough to differentiate them to the vet status they should have. (Apologies if you've done this and i can't see or if you're going for an in-campaign, no frills look)

You might like to try and have a read of the old RT rulebook fluff, if you can get hold of a copy. It might give you some ideas.

I actually have the Rogue Trader book I will look back through it - that is a good idea.

I don't want them to be "churched up" - the army I am going for is the guys who survived the destruction of the Fortress Monastery and are on their way to Rynn, which is why it is a mobile column and there are no drop pods or dreadnoughts. I am not worried about them being differtianted too much - the fact that they are the only power armored models in this list should be enough ;-) I am however, going to do a bit more conversion work on the regular bolters to give them an interesting ammo feeder - I will probably use the black reach termie storm bolter ammo feeds (thanks for the idea, Shep)

edit: Oh yeah, and each of the sternguard also have crux terminatus shoulders

I am hoping to finish up my choppy scouts tonight. I played my first game of the league which ended in a victory - the batrep is here with a few pics -

 http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/263801.page

on a related topic - there is a Crimson Fists book coming out early 2010 about the Rynn's World disaster.

  http://www.red-stevie.com/2009/04/rynns-world-cover.html

My force is NOT based on the book (as I haven't read it, obviously). I am a bit bummed because it will likely invalidate my 'historical' force so I may change the background slightly depending on the book.

can't wait to see these bad boys with some paint. I'm happy to see that someone besides me decided to make a Hvy Flamer Stern from the term Hvy Flamer. the poses are really nice though I would have to agree with the Hvy flamer being a two handed weapon, maybe give the guy a shoulder strap to help support it with the one hand? just an idea, other wise I am very impressed, just get some paint on them already

These are nice man, I dig the fluff about them being the survivors of the rynn's world waaaagh. I have always though about doing a few Crimson Fist minis to throw in one of my crusader squads to be veterans of http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/The_Declates_Crusade. But I have enough space marines as it is already. I will keep an eye on your progress here though.
