And leading a charge with a claymore in WWII? He's lucky he survived, or he would instead be remembered as a friggin moron. But in any case, I see him as being just awesome.

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time. |

Also, I've not heard of this man before, but 109 confirmed sniper kills?
wiki wrote:SSG Adelbert F. Waldron, or Adelbert F. Waldron III, (March 14, 1933 – October 18, 1995) was a United States Army sniper serving during the Vietnam War (9th Infantry Div.) who is little known, but who currently holds the record for the highest number of confirmed kills for any American sniper in history; 109.[1] The legendary Carlos Hathcock had 93 confirmed kills, Eric R. England had 98 and Chuck Mawhinney had 103—all were members of the US Marine Corps. However, despite Hathcock and Mawhinney being fairly well known, Waldron and England are all but unheard of. Waldron also was one of the few two time recipients of the Distinguished Service Cross, both awarded for separate actions in 1969. He is buried in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California, Columbarium A (shelter F), Court B, Row B, Site 37.

Bah, it has to be Simo Hayha for the win.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_Hayha
The guy had 505 confirmed sniper kills, around 200 more with a submachine gun, for a total in excess of 700 kills. And he did it in less than 100 days of fighting during the Winter War.

Bam, History Lesson in two sentences.
Hayha was Finnish and was shooting Russians. Bam history lesson in one sentence.
There are actually a couple of snipers that are claimed to have more kills, but they're discredited because their claims emerged long after the fighting, and are Russian and therefore pretty dodgy.

Not a bad choice given that the Webley Revolver was Standard Issue to British Officers at the time. The Wembley was said at the time to be " capable of pentrating tin from 10 yards, but that was about it" Damm pop gun, pass the sword laddie!
I would also profer this gentleman as being rather handy. He was known to have faced down a Panzer kneeling in front of it repeatedly firing a PIAT at the bugger and was to be seen running arround Arnhem at a later stage firing a 2" mortar from the hip, an action bizarre enough to be mentioned in German reports!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Henry_Cain He was also Jeremy Clarksons farther-in-law who later did a very interesting documentry on him and Victoria Cross recipients.
Also don't for get Cnl. Richard Sharpe of the South Essex bloody fine fellow (for a ranker!)

Another vote for Major Cain, someone who hipshoots a mortar for real makes Chuck Norris and other 'heroes' look like wimps.
However there are some Gurkha VC citations, and the Aussie one from Vietnam which sound just as impressive. Then you get to Wittmann's Death Ride and you have to begin again, we tend to forget what the Germans got up to except the bad stuff, but some of their heroes racked up stupidly high kill tallies, and not just with a sniper rifle. But its not the kill tallies, its the moves that count, which is why I would have to go with Wittmann.

My vote is for Hitler. He survived a gas attack and looking straight into the eyes of Britains one man firing sqaud. Forget the fellows name. Then comes back to attack his enemy. That is pretty hardcore.
Or anyone that survived WW1, That was a awfull war between the life those men lived in the trenches and getting gassed/shelled to hell.

I'm sure Hitler did a fine job in WW1, but a war hero that does not make, much less the "Most Amazing Soldier Ever".
In fact, it doesn't even make him the "Most Amazing Soldier Who Later Became a Dictator That Killed Tens of Millions", because Mao beats him.
