Hi this list is for friendly games but i was just inquiring into whether it would at least be slightly competitive. The mass of meltaguns is due to the increasing mechanisation of armies and the fact that most armies are still marines and the meltagun can deal with both and allow my squads to charge after shooting.

Drop the Chosen, pick up 4x Obliterators, thats 370pts left.

Now grab some 'assault Noise marines' for capturing objectives, get 2x/8x Noise marines, add 2x Rhinos.

Thats 20pts over, so drop a Raptor.

Yeah you NEED long range support. granted you do have blastmasters but your noise marines are meant for assault not sit back and shoot. The suggestion lord loss has is great.

You lack long range support and troop numbers. You have 18 troops so in objective games your really going to struggle. Blastmaster means you cannot move and shoot if I remember correctly, so you will struggle on moving it or shooting it, and at 40 points you want to fire it. But really, the blastmaster is over priced.

Also where are the transports? Meltaguns on foot?

Chosen are infiltrators so I can see that transports aren't mandatory, as they are for most meltagun squads.

But I agree with so many others - you have set up noise marines to provide lackluster ranged support, and chosen are good but not great value. I would set up the NMs for assault - 2 shots each + a doom siren, then 3 attacks each at high initiative, makes a terrific assault unit that can also fire well at medium range. The blastmaster is overcosted, you pay for abilities that don't complement the rest of the squad.

Scrap one unit of chosen and remove the ablative squad members from the other. Then buy some dedicated heavy support to provide real firepower. I recommend obliterators or possessed vindicators.

Thanks for the responses guys I've taken on your criticisms and implemented into my list however I am now concerned with the low model count so any more suggestions would help. Thank you in advance.

I think a defiler would be better than those havocs. I'm a big defiler junky so I might be biased. But a defiler would put some armour in you're army which you pretty much have none of. You can do some fun stuff with a defiler too like just crawling around and blowing stuff up and messing with troops in close combat and surprising ur opponent cuz you're defiler has fleet.

oh and also you can lash the enemy models into a tight group so you can ordinance blast them. but yeah I think your new list looks a lot better than your last one.

You still need more troops choices. In any game with objectives your going to tie at best, unless the other player is piss poor. For that i would suggest dropping the havocs for anything else in the troops choices.

Ok to to gain more troops I have changed the chosen back to normal marines and with the extra points bought a rhino for them so that they can keep up with the rest of the army. I have given the Defiler two close combat arms because to be honest without its battlecannon it is utterly useless at shooting so if it is blown of at least the Defiler can do some damage in combat. Now the list looks pretty solid as it is very mobile with a solid fire base however I am worried about the very low model count, is this an issue?

Just with a low model count isnt going to cost you a game. I play pure 1K sons and in an 1850pt game i think i only had thirty eight models on the table and won outnumbered by at least twenty.

I'm liking the list and now has more troop numbers.

Two things though, the defiler does good with a heavy flamer. You can do some damage before assaulting, and remember its twin-linked. It would also be best to take two defilers. One would be a prime target, with two you have dual targets. Swap the obliterators for one.

I recently play a game against tyranids with two defilers and two obliterators along with a daemon prince and I think it went well.

Ok mercer if I have two defilers then I'll probably obtain one by swapping with a squad of obliterators. I'm just thinking with all that ordnance would it be a good idea to swap the other obliterator squad for another lash prince to fully maximise the threat of those blast weapons or am I sacrificing to much?
