The plan is very simple for my local group to arrange a tournament for ourselves nothing too serious about six of us will be taking part for a day-long tournament.

Just wondering whether or not does anyone know how to get the computer program that GW uses to run tournaments.

Which would help

Does it need to be specifically whatever GW uses?

If you spend a little time on google, you can turn up any number of freeware software options for running tournaments for various different events (Chess tournament programs appear to be the most common).

Whatever they're originally designed for, the general principles tend to be the same, and the better programs allow a certain amount of customisation so can easily be suited to different games.

Of course, if you're only looking at 6 people, I would question whether software is really necessary.

Well, as the person who used to use this all the time when I ran the US Events, I can say you really don't want it. It is pretty much a buggy piece of garbage that was cobbled together by various IT people in the office who then went on to other jobs so getting updates and bug fixes was a huge nightmare.

There are various Excel files out there for running tournaments that will do exactly what you want it to do. Just do some searches and I am sure you will find them.

Overlord is a popular program, but takes some practice to really get working smooth.

For six people you can easily do it by hand or in a simple Excel sheet. It'll be quicker that way.

It's funny you should say that as it has been recommended by a couple of people on other forums so I have included a link
by all accounts it is due for an update soon.

And yes your right it seems a wee bit temperamental
