Rather than take over the Wayland Games thread, just thought I'd start this one to post any Kings of War news. Starting with:

Mantic have posted up WIP shots of it's forthcoming cavalry set in the Mantic Blog

http://www.manticblog.com/

Enjoy

I must admit the fact that it is Gary "Nagash" Morley doing the sculpting makes me a little nervous.

The horse is a bit "meh", rather static. But probably fine at the likely price. At least he hasn't perpetrated a "My Little Pony" like he did with the Wood Elves...

Cheers

Nagash was very much of his time, so I wouldn't worry about the sculpts too much. They are shorter and more lither than GW's high elves. Some of them look a little odd, but I'll probably do a unit of the spears, to see how they look on the table.

It must be remembered that is a WIP and is only one of the horses. I know there is at least two, not sure how many more there will be.

Also, Mantic has a video review of the Elven Warhost by Beast of War up on their blog:

Got my hands on some of those elves at Gamesfest. Good models, but as they're in plastic I can't see much success without rules . . . and wider sales . . . IMO it needs to start in metal.

But what do I know? =p

Gary had to sculpt two heads for Nagash according to a post he made on Warseer once. So he created one he liked and one so goofy that they wouldn't pick it. They chose the latter and it became notorious.

So I wouldn't worry too much about him doing these.

gary originally sculpted a more liche like head for nagash, but it was turned down in favor of a more skull like one by the great GW. in thier almighty wisdom, nagash is now known as clown-man.

Gary has done a fantastic job with the finished cavalry. He's excelled IMO.

Ahem

Anyways, there's a painted shot of the Seaguard up on the Mantic Blog submitted by The Army Painter. Expect shots of the entire army showcased at the Spiel event in Essen to be put up this week.

There's supposedly a couple of things happening with Mantic this week, so if you want first dibs on all the goss, I recommend their newsletter

And the couple of things I mentioned in my last post have happened!

http://www.manticgames.com/Shop-Home/Elves/Army-Deals.html
Three new cohort deals, all including the new metal hero set. As well as this, Mantic are now stocking products from The Army Painter and have even created an Army Painter bundle for the Cohort, allowing you to replicate the massive Elven Army Army Painter did for Mantic...
