If so, any hints?

I am thinking of making a single trunk then trying my hand at resin casting to make more. There is a good tutorial on resin casting in the articles, so I could follow that. Any other suggestions?

I haven't got any ideas for homemade palm tree fronds though. Any suggestions at all?

GW already make palm trees (well, they may not literally be palm trees, but are quite similar), so personally I think you'd be better off putting all that work into a different sort of tree.

DIY palm fronds would be particularly difficult - it's easy enough to make them out of paper with the fronds cut with scissors, but thry don't look particularly realistic and would be very fragile.

Huh, weird that I did not know they make them already. Found them now and they are actually quite cheap and okay-looking.

Problem solved...

My kid got a packet of those green army men, they came with a bunch of nice looking, plastic palm trees for very cheap. I think the set was maybe 5 us dollars, came with 5 or 6 stands of trees, 2 trees to a stand. They are very compatible with 28mm figs and way cheaper than GW ones. Also can be gotten from anywhere that sells cake decorations.

I bought a huge box of palm trees from a cake decorating supplier. IIRC there were hundreds of them. I think it was $50.

(This one is good for leaves. The trunks are not so good)

Amazing what a few minutes on Google can do for you.

Yes, it is amazing. Of course, you assume I have not seen them already, rather than assuming I am asking here because I respect the terrain modelling wizardry of my fellow Dakkaites...

I guess my post didn't make it clear though - I should have probably said I don't have any good ideas for making leaves...

My favourite I found was actually this one http://www.zeitcom.com/majgen/22palmsc.html which you did not list, as it was a cool site generally, but thanks for the others as I had not seen a couple of them before when I previously searched and they offer some good hints.

Anyway, problem solveed more effectively by the person who pointed out GW palm trees already exist, and are quite cheap.
