The 2009 Dutch GT is over (Tournamentreport in Battlereports-subforum).
Time for a new challenge. My next project, possibly aimed at competing in 2010s GT and some friendly Tournies/Campaigns in the meantime will be Necron.
I've thought up the following list as both fun to play and still somewhat competitive. The list has great mobility and flexibility and all the fun units:
140 Necron Lord, Destroyer Body, Warscythe
144 4 Pariahs
168 6 Immortals
180 10 Warriors
180 10 Warriors
200 4 Destroyers
200 4 Destroyers
123 3 Wraiths
65 1 Heavy Destroyer
65 1 Heavy Destroyer
235 1 Monolith
1700 points exactly
45 models
40 Necron models
PO at 10 Necron models or less.
All essential units have duplicates for WBB purposes.
Your thoughts?
Cheers, Cilithan

I think the list looks solid, good luck playing competitively with the 'crons as-well!
However IMO you should swap the Pariahs for extra immortals as your Pariahs are a big point sink and are quite well known to under achieve (I think...), then your 10+man immortals can pack a real punch, however I'd wonder about getting VoD on the Lord to deepstrike the immortals?
Good Luck with it matey

So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Hey Dave,
I agree that the Pariah are a point sink in general. Thats why I kept them down to a minimum unitsize. I do however feel they have an edge over Immortals in their Leadership-reduction SR. The idea is that if assault units manage to get in my ranks the plan is to rotate the Necron though the Monolithportal and with shooting and leadershipreduction cause said unit to flee (if not fearless). Also the Warscythes would mean that Im not completely helpless agains stuff like Dreadnoughts/Vehicles in my ranks.
I'd like to try them out to see what kind of flexibility they offer. For now I'd say the abilities I mentioned are worth 32 points (the benefit Id gain by making those Pariah into Immortals) even looking at the loss of 4 Necron models in the list (Id say Phase Out wise Im safe enough allready).
You may very well be right however that they'll be downgraded to Immortals in a second, if they are perceived to underachieve.
The VoD I'll definately try at one point or another. I've read on these forums however that the eventuality of a DS mishap is too damaging to consider the benefit of a VoD for Necrons... I'll have to see for myself though.
Thanks for the reply. Cilithan

The pariah can work. Are they over priced? yes. But that entire codex is overpriced so dont let that stop you. The nice thing about pariah are they are a bit of a "wildcard" in your backfield. Situations occur that they become very handy to have. Like you said forcing a morale check through shooting. Also, there are still some units out there the Pariah are perfect for, plaugebearers, thunderhammer termies, regular termies. Anything with low initiative that is hard to kill the pariah cut through. I say take em. Some games they will die without doing anything, but that happens all the time in 40k.
I think your list looks good. Im glad you are playing Necrons in tournaments I think they have their place in the current meta game.

Thanks Norbu. I really enjoyed reading your tournament-report. The fact that this list has Wraiths is due to your report. The fact that you think this list is OK means Im not far off track, so Ill start building it and see how it goes.

Sorry for trolling, but this list lacks 3 monoliths.
