So I was just informed that Allies can only take certain Guard choices, and that CCS and PCS cannot give orders to other races. I've given orders to infantry of other races in team games. Anyone want to give me a Orders101 when it comes to those sorts of, using orders with not Guard infantry... as I don't know the FAQs very well.

Just read the FAQ.

It basically states you cannot give Orders to Allies, as GK/SOB/SM probably wouldnt listen....

No, but I mean in team battles. Say I was partnered up with an Orks team, can I give orders to their infantry? Or is that outlawed for the same rationale? Or in Apoc games where you can take whoever you want in your army, not as allies... but just as "bring whatever you can field".

Team battles aren't covered by the regular rules of 40K.

So if you're playing a team game, you're going to need to sort the rules out amongst yourselves before you start.

I'd generally say that your Guard can only command other Guard units that you are in control of. No on allies. No on team mates. No on 'everything I can field in an Apocalypse game'. The FAQ seems to be pointing in that general direction.

This is how I'd play it. Just to reiterate though, their are no official rules for this.

But, "For the Honour of Cadia!!!" is so much fun with Daemons. :(

I suppose since the FAQ points in that direction, I can understand where it would be a likely ruling.

I would say you can issue orders to both yours and friendly guard units, but no GK, WH or any other allies. A Guardsman who tells a Grey Knight what to do will probably end up with a psycannon bolt through his skull.

The IG FAQ says no to issuing orders to your Allies.

It is not much of a stretch to call players on your team your allies.

Heck, the FAQ is more specific than that even.

Q. Can orders be issued to allied Witch Hunter and/or Daemonhunter units?
A. No, orders can only be issued to non-vehicle units from Codex: Imperial Guard.

So if it ain't from codex: IG, you can't issue orders to it.

If your ally is playing IG, then they meet the requirements. I'd say go for it.

Which goes against the FAQ, as it says no to your ally receiving orders from your units.
But that is easily RAI.

RAW is lacking in multiplayer.

No, actually it doesn't go against the FAQ at all.

Q. Can orders be issued to allied Witch Hunter and/or Daemonhunter units?
A. No, orders can only be issued to non-vehicle units from Codex: Imperial Guard. I think Sisters of Battle, Grey Knights and in particular Inquisitors would have some serious objections with a lowly Imperial Guardsman telling them what to do!

Are the "allied" IG any of the units listed in the FAQ as having "objections" or are they a unit listed as being able to receive orders? Seems to be the latter, to me.

The issue I was addressing is that only WH/DH can be allies outside of multiplayer/apoc games.

In other games "allies" can be anyone.

Gotcha, still doesn't change the non-vehicle unit from the IG codex bit in the FAQ tho................
