Ok, so I've not played since 3rd ed.. not really sure what's vital or what's required so i'm just bouncing ideas around so i know what i have to plan to buy.. i.e. please go easy on me!
HQ
145 - Warboss with powerklaw, warbike, attack squig and boss pole.
Troops
345 - 6 x nobs with bikes. 3 x nobs armed with powerklaws. (warboss attached)
162 - 11 x boys with 1 x rokkit launcher, 1 x nob with powerklaw and bosspole. 1 x trukk with red paint.
162 - 11 x boys with 1 x rokkit launcher, 1 x nob with powerklaw and bosspole. 1 x trukk with red paint.
137 - 11 x boys with 1 x rokkit launcher, 1 x nob with bosspole. 1 x trukk with red paint.
Fast Attack
265 - 8 x warbikes. 1 x nob on warbike with powerklaw and bosspole
265 - 8 x warbikes. 1 x nob on warbike with powerklaw and bosspole
should come to around 1481 unless my calculator skills are pretty crap
for 2000pts i'd prob get a battle wagona and stick the big kannon, red paint and an 'ard case on it. then stick a unit of burnas inside with a big mek with a kustom force feild.
ok, so problems i can possibly see with my own list.. not enough troops? too many bikers? too many powerklaws? not enough variation? more upgrades needed for certain units?
please bare in mind.. i don't want to go to any tourneys and win.. i don't want to be beardy or uber competive.. i go for feel and character more than anythign with an army, but that said, i also don't want to have a useless army..
so.. your thoughts? *hides behind sandbags*

Actually You've got a neat list right there, the warbikers can act as flank protection, and you've got a good number of boyz, In the current scene, most people have dropped the rokkit in favor of the big shoota. If you need anti-armor, deffkoptas or Warbuggies are better candidates for rokkits as it's more likely they will hit something. Also, warbuggies can grant cover saves to your trukks!
The nob biker unit with 3xpks is dead killy! could probably use a painboy so it will stay alive longer (and remember those cyborks and waaagh banners.)

If you're going to go for nob bikers, do it with gusto. Definetly buy them a painboy biker for FNP, and if possible get a little more wargear spread for wound allocation (I'd move the bosspole from the boss to the nobs, for a start). Cybork the banner are nice upgrades, but they're expensive and not 100% mandatory. I'd also drop the rokkits. If the trukks get anywhere you'll fire them once at most (and probably miss) and if the trukks go down then the boyz will be busy running or going to ground on an objective. Buy that last trukk a PK... always buy boyz a PK. Overall it's a decent list, I'm just afraid those trukks are going to be toast the first chance anyone gets to shoot at them. Maybe consolidate 2 of those trukks into a battlewagon? (Either way, you should usually avoid 'ard case. Expense + limited firing points and access points + loss of assault disembarking sucks.)

that's nice to know I'm on the right lines ^_^
i'll have a fiddle with it tonight and work it out without rokkit launchers and see what points i can free up to upgrade the nobz.. shame i can't give all 6 powerklaws....
if i drop the 'ard case on the 2000pt list it means i can probably squeeze in a couple of death kopters.. so that's not a bad idea

An excellent list. Some suggestions: add a Big Mek with a Kustom Forcefield immediately. This is only 85 points and it is essential for keeping the trukks alive for a turn to get that move accross the table. Where will you find the points you ask? Well I'd drop one powerklaw from the nobs and drop the bikers to one good mob. You'll also want to follow the suggestion of adding a painboy and diversified wargear to those nobs. With six nobs it might look something like this:
1. painboy
2. powerklaw
3. powerklaw and kombi-skorcha
4. bosspole
5. waaagh banner
6. vanilla choppa/slugga nob.
I've been running a speed freaks list for my last dozen or so games and they are alot of fun to play. The mobility opens up alot of tactical possibilities so the army does take some practice.
