My friend is building a Dark Angel Deathwing Terminator army, and wanted to know the size of the bases. I said that they were 40mm, but then discovered that GW sells DA Terminators on 25mm bases. Which is it? Are they 25mm until Dark Angels get a codex/model update?

Well you can play them on what ever bases the models come with however its now "standard" to play them on the 40mm bases.

Wow, posts to the 4th.

40mm is the current standard for terminators, though 2nd and 3rd edition mini's came with 25mm bases.

People ususally use 40mm bases but you can also use 25mm as well

What is seen at tournaments? If someone came in with 25mm bases is it frowned upon, do people complain, etc...

It depends on the Tournament. If it's obvious you have an old Deathwing All Metal Army, Not many people will complain. If it looks like you are dicking them about fior an advantage, be prepared for some hate.

Well, regardless if he was, it would probably appear that way, since they are deepstrike oriented. And smaller bases obviously grants an advantage on that front, so I may just have him convert them to the 40mm base if we were going to use them in tournament play.

I get odd looks and occational complaints when I field my Advanced Space Crusade Tyranid Warriors on their old small square bases -- despite the fact that they were supplied with them.

I have replaced most (all but one - I am short one of the correct size for the moment) with the modern, round, larger bases and everyone is much nicer to me.

If you are fielding terminators that came supplied with the older 25mm bases you are required by RAW to use those bases, and NOT the 40mm ones. I have about 40 Space Wolf terminators of different ages, and about half of them are on 25mm bases, and half on 40mm bases, you use the base they come with.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

You mean from page 3?

That page has a fair bit more wiggle room than people give it credit for.

Not always. I like them on small bases when they deep strike, it means they are nice and tightly packed when the Inq/Mystics detect them and tell the Executioner to fire on them......................
