I know some of you guys must have veritable black libraries of wargaming books so share the magnificence of your collection with Dakka.

Here's mine (excluding the AT-43 books I have and including some miscellaneous stuff):

Yes, that's also my nightstand. The two white volumes at the bottom of the stack are BFG and Armada. This is not picturing any of my roleplaying stuff other than DH, by the way. I keep DH nearby because it's just so damn cool. (Can't wait to pick up RT!) And, I know, I know. My pile of WD is pretty skimpy.

Do PDFs count? I can't stand the book prices and refuse to buy them unless I'll use them a lot. My D&D collection spans 9 books, but that's only because I DM. It was almost 20-25 books but then I decided that I don't like playing with expansions, I'd prefer to make up stuff myself.

If the Codices were $10 a piece I'd probably buy every one of them, but as it stands I don't own a single one (when 'nids come out soon I'll probably buy theirs, sure).

I own and play:
Space Marines (all flavours)
Tau Empire
Tyranids
Necrons

PIRATE! PIRATE! PIRATE!

But yeah. I'm in the same boat as you, Manchu. Heck, I even own almost every copy of Imperial Armour(barring Apocalypse and Space Marines/Inquisition and the "updates") in lieu of the Dark Heresy stuff. Is it any good fluffwise?

@Holy Cause: Uh oh--better not let LunaHound hear you talk that way.

@Kanluwen: I think DH is a canonical source of fluff given that it was published in its first edition by BL. What the weight of "canonical" actually is . . . well, you know how it goes. They are brilliantly illustrated, that's for sure. I eve like Wayne Englund's contributions and I despise almost everything he's ever done for WotC. How are the Imperial Armour books? I've heard they're not worth the money. They look gorgeous on FW's site, however. I've wanted the Taros Campaign forever. Do you have/have you seen Aeronautica Imperialis? Everyone says it's gak but I'm a sucker for this stuff, obviously. Also, post some pics of those IA books, my friend!

Do you include history as wargaming books?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

If so . . .

I could only fit so many into the picture but that is most of the ones that aren't packed up . . .

And there are my dogs, too.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and notice Hero of the Imperium lying next to laptop (which is displaying my favorite website!) . . . all other BL books (not included in first picture) are still packed up.

Ah Manchu, I would have thrashed your wargaming book collection into the ground back in the day. My collection of codexes/army books was scary (I have owned nearly all of them at one stage or other).

Eventually it came to a head when I moved back to Southampton from Epsom and couldn't fit them in the car. I left the out of date ones in a cupboard (my old landlord probably threw them out).

Nowadays, I only buy the ones I like and if I don't start collecting that army, I sell the corresponding book on ebay.

I just moved from Michigan to Virginia--if those place names are meaningless to you, it's 12 hours away! My Warhammer stuff was less than 10% of the books I moved (most of which are not pictured in either of the above) and I had to move a lot more than books (although the books were the heaviest). It pains me, quite literally, to hear about you throwing out of date codices away.

GW-wise I have all the 5th ed WH Army books and Siege etc, I have almost every 2nd ed 40K book too. I have Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay in hardback and Rogue Trader too. I used to have 'Ere we Go and Realm of Chaos (sobs). Then there's the 150 or So White Dwarfs in boxes, if they can be counted, mostly spaning issue numbers 100-300. There's loads of other stuff too from other manufacturers, like the Doctor Who Invasion Earth Game, a gamebook called "Warlord", the short run magazine for Harlequin Miniatures, enough stuff to fill out two shelves of exclusively gaming material. There's a ton of historical books but they fill most of the house.

Your army is 300 dollars and you don't want to spend 25?

25 is what I don't want to spend on certain models...

My collection is small. I try to make sure there is room for me to store minis.

I've also got all the IA books, a bunch of 40K art books, some Necromunda books, etc.

And now I'm having to pack it all up to move, which ain't too fun!

Wow, Yakface, that's amazing! I myself only have several codexes!

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Yes, I regret it now, but at the time I wasn't really reading the old ones. Nowadays, I really miss the some old fluff (such as the war between the Skaven and Nagash) which is only hinted at in current army books.

I guess I should have not as exaggerated as much I do own a Necron codex and the AOBR mini-book and that's pretty much it for now.

I was going to buy the 4th ed. nid codex but then 5th was released and such, I now will just get that one. I borrowed the print copy from a friend. Does that make me a "pirate" because GW still didn't get a sale from me?

I own and play:

That depends on more details. For example, if I were to hear a song on my friend's CD and then illegally download it then I would be a pirate. Are you saying you borrowed your friend's nids book and then pirated it?

Still need a few No Quarters, and the last Hordes book to come out. Also need a few more of the WHFRP books, and The Dark Hersey stuff
and yes that's two copies of the collector Warhammer rule book, I ordered one and a gamers edition. The gamers edition was late so the store manager gave me another copy of the collector edition

Very cool collection! I love reading the German titles.

Global Catholicism and other books (Bible above, Christopher Tyreman's "God's War" below, Oxford History of Islam, book of Howard's Conan stories, etc) are in there because . . . that's where they sit. Like I said, I currently keep the old GW books on my nightstand along with whatever else I'm currently perusing. Doubt my fiance will allow it once we move in together . . .

Hence my comment "where's Luna" since she will flame pirates clean off the surface of Dakka. If GW comes a-knockin, Alpharius, you can point them to this thread.

At Dakka, we're proud to buy whatever GW will sell us. (Put that at the top of the page!)
