Pulsating Possessed Chaos Marine

United Kingdom, London

Hey. About 6 months ago, my local GW had an apocalypse game. We used the personal objectives scenario as well as normal objectives (4 Normals). Sadly, I only had my mobile with me to take pics and it already had quite alot of memory used up, seeing as I had no idea about the apocalypse game- I was simply roped in. Quite alot of people were involved-each with 1500pts (we where allowed to ignore formation costs).
Personal Objectives
Charles had to get at least 20 of his ork boys in combat with the guards russ' (to impressive da guv'nor by stompen dat big shooty thing)
I had to kill as many hq's a possible, as sacrifice to my dark masters.
Jack's Dark Angels had to be the first unit to slay a unit of the tau cowards in combat,.
Tom's tanks had to blow up as many vehicles as possible, in return for a favour granted by the soul forge.
The Tau guy had to kill as many enemy units with shooting as possible, in revenge for the OWNAGE of an etherel at the hands of the black legion.
The guard had to kill 150pts of ANY of the opposing forces with his command squad.
The other guard player had to kill the dark angels command squad with his aquila bombers.
I can't really remember the rest (We didn't know the objectives of anyone else).
Deployment[/i]

The good guys won the deployment role. They deployed only lightly. There where quite alot of guard players, so opposite us like, 12 Chimeras where deployed, along with several russ' 2 land raiders, and some broadsides. Us (the bad guys) then deployed. The dark Angels deployed in several rhinos or on foot, right at the back. Tom deployed his Baneblade and Shadow sword in a corner, next to a shield generator. I deployed my Lord of the Black Crusades squad, a few bikers and a defiler near the place where the two boards met. Finally Charles deployed his green tide as a rather excellent meat-shield for us. Tom our team leader failed to steal the initiative.

[u]Turn one

The chimeras rumble forward, and fired their smoke grenades into the hard ground, cracking them open and covering the chimeras with a thick white plume. The russes fired in co-ordination at the ork boys, sending them flying apart as the battlecannon shells detonated. The heavy bolters ripped through their ranks, as did the weaponry of the Tau, explosions of viscera blotting out the sun. The chimeras which stayed back also opened fire, droning out the furious roar of the orks. The orks lost 40-60 members of the tide to this devastating torrent. The tau also opened fire, smashing apart several dreadnoughts (chaos and dark angel). Three chimeras sat next to each objective in their deployment zone, the rest thundering ahead, accompanied by 2 land raiders and 30ish tactical marines.

In quick riposte, the Dark Angels thundered foward in their rhinos, jinxing past various missiles sent their way. The Lord of the Black Crusades formation followed swiftly. Up at the imperial end, there was a disturbance as belail d'sed in with a deadly cohort of deathwing. They opened fire at the space marines in front of them, slaughtering a tactical squad and leaving the way free for a charge against the tau next turn. Abaddon relayed the co-ordinates of the imperial lapdogs to the orbiting planet killer, which in turn let off an incinerating blast which ripped a mighty hole in the advancing Iron knight marines. They continued unperturbed, with the exception of one squad which was generally blasted away, the remnants being pinned. Bolt pistol fire from d'striking raptors brought another marine to his knees, and a melta gun blast incinerated a leman russ (we had quite a few reserves come in this turn due to the Carefull Planning rule provided by the Lord of the Black Crusades). The Indiscriminate bombardment asset was then played out, as khornate warriors in a mad frenzy hacked their way through one of the planet killers gun battery controllers, and unleashed its weapons upon the battlefield below. More marines where incinerated. A stray blast hit the ork boyz, killing even more. The two renegade superheavies and the defiler also fired, blasting apart several chimeras. A battlewagon which had zoomed onto the pitch as a reserve spun around and let out its cargo of boys in front of an objective, and a squad of ork boyz roared in triumph as they secured an objective.

Turn Two
There was a blinding flash of light as Marneus Calgar descended on the battlefield with an honoured terminator bodyguard. A chaplain cracked the floor next to them as his heavy boots hit the ground, chanting litanies of hate. The remaining chimeras settled on the middle objective. The Aquila fliers flew over the footslogging Dark Angels, pelting them with bombs. The russ’ continued to fire, one turning around to destroy the raptors, and another killing yet more ork boys. The guard exited their chimeras and let out beams of las-fire, further punishing the orks. The Chimeras fired a volley of shots, which killed the remainder of the ork boys (120 orks and a warboss gone in a turn and a half…wow). The tau let loose their entire formidable weaponry at the approaching Dark Angels, reducing both squads to 1 man, and Belail to one wound. The terminators where then finished by more loyalist terminators of the Iron Knights, who had arrived earlier in the turn. With a twirl of his sword, the chapter master of the iron knights indicated to the nearby vox-operator where the orbiting battle barge should strike. A melta torpedo flew down, scattered, and struck a land raider (iron knight one , immobilizing it. The chapter master face-palmed. Calgar and his buddies let rip at some dark angels, killing a few. (I’ve also remembered his honour guard where there. I have no idea how, maybe a drop pod? Or a rhino?). A chimera containing a heroic senior officer advanced and let out a stream of bullets of the Lord of the Black Crusades. It ricocheted off their tough armour, causing no damage.

The stormsword fired its cannon at one of the advancing land raiders, smashing its tracks asunder. The fire was joined by that of the baneblade, which crushed a chimera into nothing. The chapter master, who was now yelling at the vox-operator for his messed up co-ordinates was crushed from above by the planet killer, as was his command squad by a deadly shot from the defiler. Abaddon and his buddies fired into Calgar and his…buddies, four of the 10 termies falling to the ground, armour rent my numerous shots. The dark angels advanced forward in their rhinos. At their front the venerable dreadnought piled shots into the cowering guardsmen. Squads of chaos bikers zoomed towards the guard holding the objective (one squad was mine-other was this random guys) accompanied by daemons summoned earlier. The fired their bolters as they moved, bringing several guard down. With that, they charged the guardsmen with pistol and sword. Abaddon charged with his black crusade squad, right into the terminators, calgar, and the chaplain. The ultramarines were slaughtered, as the assorted heroes of chaos wiped them out. A squad of lesser daemons which had held back charged the nearby honour guard, but where OWNED. Some friendly csm who had smashed forward in a land raider opened fire at the tau, but they shrugged it off.
Turn Three
The good guys opened the turn by deepstriking Warlord Thraka in with a retinue of Meganobz. In his hand was an archaic device. The emperor knows how he managed to get hold of it, but nonetheless a void grenade was held in his hand. With full force, he threw it over his head at the Shadowsword infront of him. To his surprise however, it bounced back over his head-striking the lead meganob! They disappeared in a mighty flash, leaving behind a bewildered Warlord. That was not the only strange thing to happen this turn. On mars, the mechanicum has prepared a mighty device, and fired an incandescent beam of light which struck a loyalist land raider, it’s immobilized tracks whirring again! (What really happened- Ben, one of the games workshop workers and the organizer of the event randomly declared it. It’s not the last time he intervened in the match either, as you’ll find out). It moved forward, and opened fire with its lascannons, destroying the ork battle tank. It then swept around to deal with the traitorous land raider. A few remaining iron knights charged the orks holding the objective. They fell to the ground in a great ball of dust (I can’t remember what exactly happened, but I know that some of the orks still held the objective later on). A squad of guard fired at some chaos marine bikes, destroying to squads. They found the third and last more resilient however (Mark of nurgle ftw), and were unable to destroy it. The russes fired their lascannon, blasting a chaos dreadnought aside. The Aquila moved on and fired at the dark angels, incinerating a squad.
The Lord of the Black Crusades swiftly leapt over their defeated ultramarines foe. The shadowsword fired upon another russ, destroying it, and Tom fired his baneblade at my defiler for no apparent reason, despite the fact that we were on the same team. :( (It blew up).

The Lord of the Black Crusades stalked into the middle of the table, where the honour guard were mopping up the lesser daemons. Leaping into the fray, they tore apart the ignorant worshippers of the corpse emperor. The Dark Angels started to exit from their rhinos and let loose a torrent of fire, ripping apart a platoon of guardsmen. Abaddon and his lieutenants consolidated further north. A squad of bikers gunned their engines forward, pistonning their bikes through a squad of guardsmen, however , despite the horrendous losses they were destroyed-mainly due to Commisar-we’ll-be-back Yarrick (who had just survived a blast from the planet killer….) The chaos land raider roared, a searing blast scorching the Land raider in front of it-though failing to do any lasting harm. The chaos marine squad charged into a large squad of ogryns, killing most of them but eventually falling.
Turn Four
The Spesh Mehreen land raider opened fire, destroying its chaotic counterpart. The Imperial guard blasted a squad of csm to pieces, and the heroic senior officer and his buddies maneuvered itself to “take out” the Lord of the Black Crusades. They were helped by the Tau, who ripped apart all of the terminator body guard, and joined the aquilla fighters in blasting more dark angels to pieces. The russ’, and loyalist land raider, orbital bombardment from a chapter master, sentinels and tau broadsides all fired at the baneblade, making it cry (in other words wrecking it). Yarrick charged some remaining bikers, killing them all and the guard fired upon csm squads (and orks holding an objective), killing them too-leaving me the only csm player with stuff still alive. Oh yeah . The heroic senior officer and his command squad charged Abaddon and his cohorts. They were killed before they even had the chance to draw their sword from their sheaths. I loled. Ben then decided it was once again time for him to intervene, and declared that I automatically take 2D3 wounds, due to the bravery of the charge. What an emperor loving—

The Dark Angels, badly wounded finally reached the Tau/Guard Line and opened fire. They left nothing but charred remains when targeting the guard-the tau were a completely different story. They killed a shield drone, causing the Tau commander to decide that it was a bad idea to stay were he was any longer. He fled out of the DA’s charge range. The lord of the black crusades, being the powershouses that they are cut down another squad of Tactical Marines led by a captain, and the shadowsword fired upon the Sm land raider destroying it, finally wiping out the hideous taint of the Iron Knights. An ork battlewagon moving at full speed rammed a leman russ, however its big claw thingy got caught on a nearby building, throwing it completely off course. It moved up a ramp and crashed down upon a building, destroying it (in other words, a battlewagon rammed a russ and blew itself up-slick or what?). A few dark angels charged some guardsmen, killing them.
Turn Five
This turn was mainly guardsmen running forward, and capturing their one and only objective. Several Tau battlesuits swept towards the dark angels and killed some more. They targeted the Lord of the Black Crusades as well (who had consolidated onto an objective) and wounded the lords. The aquilla bomber killed even more Dark Angels, leaving them with very little marines. The space marine land raider also fired upon the Lord of the black crusades, along with a russ killing a lord. A commissar charges into the last of the orks- 2 deff-koptas. He uses his powerfist to smash them out of the sky, however he is cut to ribbons by their buzz-saws, slicing him as the deffkoptas fall.

The Lord of the Black crusade fire a combi-melta, blowing the turret off a leman russ, and their bombardment kills some more guard. The dark angels (all 3 of them) fire upon the tau, but fail to do any lasting damage. They do however, move onto an objective. The shadowsword blasts the last chimera apart.

Winner-The Bad guys!
We held two objectives and they held one. We also had completed more personal objectives, Tom destroying a forge-worlds worth of vehicles, Me killing Calgar, a chaplain , a chapter master, A captain, a heroic senior officer and a guard command squad. The Tau guy had caused so much destruction yet received very little. However the only unit he completely destroyed was a rhino-he killed alot of other stuff, but didn't finish them off. Jack failed to charge the tau with his DA, however he did give them their only causality-a shield drone. . Here's a few pics of the battle.

For your enjoyment, I've posted another pic of an apocalpyse battle which went on next day. It was in it's last turn though, when I took this pic. Same Baneblade and Shadowsword. And just for the lulz, here's another less impressive one which me and my friends held. On a snooker board

Nice pictures of the battles. I do miss playing snooker, so that picture made me sad.

I haven't played 40k on a snooker table yet. When we were bored we used to play 9 ball on the snooker table. I think the club owners would be rather upset if we started putting miniatures on the tables.
