I see in force organization you can field 2 HQs. Now, I have been told that you cannot field 2 of the same HQs, however could you field say Old zogwart, and a Wierdboy. Technically they are not the same HQ. Even though they are both wierdboys. This is in a standard competitive game. Think tournament wise when you comment. Of course friendly games you can do whatever, but I would like to know what the limits of 2 HQs are.

There are no restrictions on identical selections, aside from Space Wolves.

Give me an example in the rules where you can put 2 of the same hq together

There are no restrictions on HQ choices other than a minimum of one and a maximum of two.

Uhh... anything goes unless it's a special character (in which case you may only have 1 of that one. So you may have Vulkan and Lysander as your 2 choices, for instance).

You can have 2 Librarians, 2 Chaplins, 2 Autarchs, 2 Hive Tyrants...

Space Wolves, as mentioned, are the only ones with a restriction on their HQs, but you can get around that by equipping them differently.

There is no example as there is no restriction.

Unique HQs (which have the unique special rule) cannot be duplicated (so you cannot have two Zogwarts) but otherwise there is no restriction (so you can have two weirdboyz)

Wow, who told you that steaming pile?

Other than the Space Wolves or Units with a 0-1 Restriction, there is no rule saying you can't have two of the same non unique HQs.

You can even have 2 Warbosses in a Ork Army or 2 Chapter Masters in a Space Marine one if you wanted!

Errrm... No. Also, Grammar and Spelling are considered good things. Please use them.

As for why you are incorrect:
Page 129 Codex SM: wrote:Unit Composition:
• 1 (Unique)
Page 49, BRB wrote:Special characters can be either independent or upgrade characters, but each one of them is unique, so the player may not include multiples of the same special character in an army
And the Final nail in the coffin:
Page 49, BRB wrote:(for example, Marneus Calgar is the Master of the Ultramarines Chapter of Space Marines - you cannot field three of him!).

Nowhere does it say that it has to have Unique in the Unit Type. Hell, it doesn't even have to say Unique at all. If it's a Special Character, you can't take more than one. Period.

Gwar pretty much got it, but you can field 2 of the same HQ if they are not special character. An easy way to tell is if they have an actually name (Boss Snikrott for example) but you could field two Masters of the Forge because they have a genaric name (I dont think those are special, but I dont have an SM codex on me). But yah, Gwar has it.

... I never checked before every one open you dark eldar codex none of them are call special characters ... there are restrictions (the leaders don't want more then one Archon) So effectively there are only 2 uses for this loop hole. Pair of Decapitators as you HQs. Or more use fully multiple Drahars.

had not spotted the bit about names. Fortunately nether of the two i mentioned are named. It's not surprising they fell through the net its since the codex is so old. Drazhar are body guards. Decapitators are a HQ that whips off heads.

Drazhar is a name. Decapitator is a name (or rather nickname).

possibly for the Drazhar ... on the other hand Decapitators are not named. We can tell this because the fluff next to the decapitator talks about a decapitator called Kheradruakh. Decapitator is just a title.

With the Dark Eldar, that proves less than nothing.

Kinky bastards the whole lot of them...

Tri, you might notice that that entire paragraph lacks any definite or indefinite articles such as 'a' or 'the' before the use of 'Decapitator'. In the English language, this usage takes place when the name in question is the proper name of an individual, and contrasts nicely which uses like 'The Dark Eldar Lord' or 'The Incubi' or 'a Sybarite', all of which indicate to the reader that a name designates a category of individuals.

'Any Dark Eldar army may be joined by Decapitator.' The absence of an article before Decapitator designates the name of an individual. GW may be sloppy with their rules, but they do manage to write grammatically correct rules in most cases.

Although why on Earth anyone would want to field Decapitator twice remains a mystery to me...

GW is not known for there consistency. There is no Clear reason ether way you can say character because ABC I can say its not because of XYZ. Its one of the reasons that all characters now get (unique).

I was told while learning the game, and that you could only do "duplicate" Hqs in planetstrike or apocalypse.

Oh well, I am glad to hear that i have been working on a 1850 tourney list basically 180 boys with nob power claw and boss pole, and 2 weirdboys. Also throw in like snikrot and some kommandos. My thought was run old zogwart and a warphead, or snikrot, and hope for the 'er we go to proc. Also ambushes from kommnandos while 180 boys are coming down on ya is just scary.

Thx for setting me straight!

Well since your an Ork player, Ill tell ya to watch out for SM players that take 2 force commanders. The first round taking 2 orbital bombardments can be pretty painful for Orks (well anyone really) since we are mostly horde. If your going to be playing someone that likes to do that, try to get yourself into some cover asap lol

just a quick question, Does Snikrot count as a hq choice for purposes of hq force organization chart. If not then I am guessing you can field snikrot and a wierd boy and a Bigmek.

Snikrot is an upgrade for your kommandos. He doesn't take up an HQ slot, and he isn't part of an HQ choice.

No, Snikrot is not an HQ choice at all.

One more question, I cant figure this out. I was thinking about making nob bikers, but I cant figure out what the stats are. Do you use the nob chart and add the points to it for a guy for being on a bike, or use the nob biker under the warbikers squad? I guess my biggest wonder is how a nob biker loses a wound by getting on a bike, if you use the nob biker under warbikes.

You take a Nobz mob from page 98, and give them bikes at the listed points cost.

The Biker Mob Nob's Wounds stat is an error. It's corrected in the Ork FAQ.

Then provide an counter example in the Dark Eldar codex in which the name is used in a way which doesn't indicate that it is an individual's proper name. Failing that, provide an example from a codex containing a statement where the indefinite article 'a' is placed before a an individual's proper name. Like I said, GW may write horrible rules, but almost all of their rules are grammatically correct.

In addition, Codex: Dark Eldar, page 33: "Included within this section are several famous (or infamous!) individuals from Dark Eldar society ...". So, where's the evidence that any of the units listed from pages 33 to 41 aren't individuals and would not be unique characters?
