Hey there. I've been playing 40k for a few months but I'm still relativity new to the game. The one place I'm struggling the most I feel is list building so I thought I'd try again with my list and post it on the internet to be torn to itty bitty pieces. I'm trying to go for a mech/assaulty build that'll be a pretty solid 'all comers' list.

Criticism, advice, anything at all really, is appreciated and thanks in advance for the help.

The Master of the forge really seems a little out of place with not using his ability to fill up slots in h. Support with Dreadnoughts.

I would consider dropping all powerfists from the tactical squads to free up points

Oh MAchine Curse is worthless. Your librarian is relentess with term armour an STR10 AP1 will blow Transports up to get at the soft bits inside for the termies.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

I personally like power fists on my sergeants and have had good results with them but they can be a bit pricey. Lately, I've been just going with the basic free upgrades (flamer and missile launcher) and a power weapon unless I'm tailoring a list for a particular threat. This makes it pretty decent all around in my opinion. And, I agree that the MoF seems a bit out of place. These points would be better used elsewhere.

What do you think for in 2000 point list? If I took out the MOTF I'd have 335 points left over. Another Tac squad maybe? Or something else entirely? I want to have more killy units in my army than just one squad of termies and a few Dreadnoughts.

lol, I'm at a loss, any ideas?

You can keep him in if you want but I dont know what models you have access to so I could not ponder a suggestion.

He would fit well in a 10 man Tactical w/ Sgt w/ Powerfist w/ Plasma gun and a razorback.

If your not using him for his ability to max out dreadnoughts I just do not see a point of using him personally.

MotF on Bike is great- Relentless conversion beamer

Do make use of his ability to spam dreads.

Don't take vortex on a libbi- why risk dropping it on your head?

Running one Landraider is a little dangerous as it is a fire magnet however if you are throwing dreads at your opponent they may be forced to eliminate the immediate threat, DPing Dreads, before thinking about your termies. It very well may make for fantastic synergy.

oh and tacs- if you are spamming dreads they will likely have anti armor wargear like a multi-melta so I would make your tac squads cheap with free ML and Flamer in razorback. Combat squad leaving the ML behind for long range support and let the other assault or take them in a rhino and take out enemy infantry.

I personally like fists but it is a personal preference. For some reason when i need them i never have them and when i have them they never of any use; go figure.

Lastly, Libbi powers- i already said "NO" to vortex so I feel I should at least make my recommendation. For a termi libb w/ SS in a unit of CC Termis i would take null zone and an assault shooting power like smite or avenger.

I agree with most people when they say go DROP POD MARINES GO. But i don't have any so in order to compasate for that i have razorbacks lots and lots of razorbacks and rhinos and land raiders. But completely agree with your list the list may need 1 terminator squad so that you may at least have troops with your dreadnoughts when they drop from the skies. But if you are going to be defending, put troops into the drop pods and switch it around a little too make something new out of it.
Also Libriains are the most Useful units of all the space marines hell i have 10 of them but still give him abilities you need to turn the tide of battle to your favor. Drop poding Dreads i have to say is very amusing to see. Your Oppenent will have hell to pay once he is done destorying them. once that happens you know what to do except if your agianst orcs or daemons. Then that won't work.

Hmmm, ok, after some thought here is take 2.

Chaplain w/ Terminator armor, storm bolter

10 man tac squad w/ flamer, powerfist, multimelta

Dreadnought w/ multimelta, heavy flamer

Landraider crusader w/ multimelta

Fast Attack
Attack bike w/ multimelta

Eventually I'd like to switch the Chaplain and one of the Tac squads for a captain on a bike and a bike squad, but that's for another day. I tried to make the Tac squads flexible but built with a purpose.

The Landraider is there as a big scary thing that can cruise up the middle and throw terminators at something. Its supposed to be a fire magnet so the rest of my army can move up and claim objectives and give the Dread's a chance. I went with the crusader because I like the extra transport capacity and I just don't like the Redeemer. x3 Sorry, I just don't like the Flamestorm guns. They just don't work for me.

The Librarian I want for psycher protection more than anything. That and null zone. I only need to get beaten once by Fortune + Council = you're dead once. He's going to stay in the Landraider most of the time I think. I'm going to play around with him a bit before I decide whether I want him in the assault or not. Otherwise I don't need to spend the points on a storm shield he's never going to use.

Lastly, I know it's kind of silly but I love my lone attack bike. He's small and fast and I don't think most people will bother to shoot at him when there's a Landraider w/ 7 termies, a couple of Dreadnoughts, and four tactical squads running around. It'll give him the chance to shoot something before dying gloriously or maybe tying up the enemy in the assault for a turn.

Ok, so that's it. What do you guys think?
