There was a post over a year ago talking about this, but I want a fresh opinion on the matter.

By the rules, you can use Black Templars with an allied force of Grey Knights, but fluff-wise, how would the Templars feel about it?

Would they begrudgingly put up with them; making the life of the GKs hell?

Are they super respectful of the GKs?

How would they feel watching a GK Termy squad doing Holocaust? Or a GKGM doing even more nasty stuff?

Their own codex has a blurb about how they will work with the Grey Knights because as a group the Grey Knights have never had a brother fall to the corruption of Chaos or something like that. I wish I had the codex so that I could recall how it was exactly worded.

The Templars are fanatical followers of the Emperor ( greatest psyker of the Imperium ), if they accept his powers they may also accept
the GK using theirs, seeing it as a gift of the Emperor or at closer inspection as channeling his divine wrath at the unworthy filth of the galaxy, therfore doing his will in cleansing and purifing the environment.

Still, BT would never trust psykers, but may accept some of them as necessary evil. How should they travel without navigators or communicate without astropaths? To tolerate some doesnt mean BT will ever see psykers as a good thing.

The 40k universe just gives enough heretic and xenos psykers to abhor, so the imperial may live...for now.

BT see the psyke thing as a risk, not only as a stain. I think they tolerate GK because GK are as pure as someone can be in 40k, and they can deal with that risk. Like Dark Side of the Force

Yeah, but how would they treat GKs personally?

With respect?
With begrudging tolerance?

I think anyone not showing them the respect they deserve would end up being thoroughly investigated by the Inquisition. The Grey Knights are living paladins of the Emperors will, to show them disrespect would the same as offering it to the Emperor himself.

And, on a more practical note, they've never had a member fall to chaos, they go toe-to-toe with daemons on a regular basis, they're better trained than normal space marines, they're better equipped than normal space marines, and they like fighting with swords.

The Black Templars would be pretty hard pressed to not respect them.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

How would a Grey Knight react to being attached to a Great Company during a feast? I just imagine a goup of Grey Knights staring at the Wolves dumbfounded.

How would a Gray Knight react if the only way to fight a daemon was to join a squad of Ork Nobs?

I bet hilarity would ensue. What a fish-out-of-water comedic jackpot!

Oh great, the confusion spreads....

1) no wolves when drinking with BT. Doubt the feast? never seen them plunder and pillage then... Maybe templars are more into beer than wine but would appreciate pretzels

2) orkz? the GK just has to wait until the demon is busy with the greenskins .... cause hes grey not green, cant join the squad anyway.

I think the templars would just tolerate them. Most of the 40k universe uses psykers (astropaths ect. I think the templars would just deal with it...

its not like they're trying to hunt down every psyker in the imperium.... oh yeh they are!

I dont see how the BT could do much of anything else then squat when a GK tells them to squat, shout when they tell them to shout- in the Imperial hierarchy, the Grey Knights are far more important and favored then the BT's are...

But when they have to exist, the BT have no choice but to do everything they say. Disobeying an order from the GKs could result in the execution of the entire chapter. And should they try an armed rebellion, the GK are much more skilled and much better armed, it would be a slaughter.

I would think Black Templar wouldn't have a problem and neither would the grey knights. As meantioned in the Grey Knights books Grey knights and wolves or dark angels is a different story.

Fanatics never use logic. Their weapons are chained to their hands for god sake.

I think the Black Templars would put up with them, but would treat them with supersition making the sign of the aquila spitting on the ground in their presence etc. The grey knights would probaly barely notice, and wouldn't care.

I always imagine that black templars astropaths and navigators are kept almost like prisoners on a black templar ship. Not seen not heard, out of sight out of mind.

In the BT rule book it says that Grey knights are the exeption to the kill the witch deal.... and I rember reading somewhere the fluff reason was that the Knights where pure pyscikly.

Oi, what's this about Wolves and Grey Knights not liking each other?!

The Great Wolf Logan Grimnar himself called upon the forces of the Grey Knights to banish the Dæmon Prince of Khorne and Fallen Primarch of the World Eaters Traitor Legion Angron at the conclusion of the First War for Armageddon.

Which also happened to be the incident (what with the total genocide of the victorious Guard and Civilians who had fought tooth and nail) that set Logan off on his grudge with the Inquisition, to the point now where they actually fire warning shots if they come anywhere close to Fenris, and that is if they are lucky. After all, the Trajectories of Cyclonic Torpedos and Lance Strikes are very tricky to calculate.
