Well, first of all.. you can't take a Slann (lord choice) at 1000 points, you need to be at 2k+ points for that.

Sorry about putting up the whole Mage-Priest, When I bought him I thought that fantasy worked like 40k's FOC
just so you know I also put him up there so people can give me hints on what I should get to get up to 2000 points,

It really depends on how competitive you want the army to be. Assuming you are building a competitive army, here is what I think of competitive Lizardmen armies:

The Slann Mage Priest should be the BSB. Which Disciplines do you plan on giving him? Considering he will be joining a unit of Temple Guard, I think the best choices would be The Focused Rumination and Focus of Mystery. An alternative would be dropping Focus of Mystery for the Plague of Tepok, but that would leave you unable to take the Cupped Hands of the Old Ones.

Skink Priests on an Engine of the Gods are one of the best units the Lizardmen have. Another nice character to support a Slann Mage Priest is a Skink Priest with the Feathered Cloak (to get the Skink Priests into position to use the Magic Missile channeling ability).

Terradon Riders are good warmachine / wizard hunters and march blockers (usually taken in units of 3).

The Temple Guard are probably meant to protect the Slann Mage Priest. I would take them in a unit of 16 (maximum Rank Bonus when the Slann Mage joins them). They could even take the Sun Standard of Chotec if you find them to be vulnerable to shooting.

Both Saurus Warriors and Skink Skirmishers are great Core choices. You usually won't be fielding more then the compulsory Core choices in Fantasy though.

In the Rare slots there is really only one competitive option, which are the Salamander Hunting Packs. Ancient Stegadons are better taken as a mount option for Characters (either as an Engine of the Gods for Skink Priests, or an Ancient Stegadon for a Skink Chief, though he will need the Stegadon Warspear).

From everything I've read, I really agree with all of Airmaniac comments- it's a good summary of some really good advice .

I'll let you know more after I've play-tested my own lizardmen (coming this week, woohoo )
