I'm looking for a new army to be played at the next year's GT season (1750 pts):

1. Chaos Space Marines:

The core are 2 winged DP's, 3 units of Plague Marines in Rhinos, and 6 Obliterators.

2. Orks:

core: Warboss on bike, 10 Nob Bikerz, 3x 20 Boyz, 6 Killa Kanz.

3. Salamanders:

core: melta/flamer spam, Assault Termies with TH/SS in LRC, led by Vulcan He'stan, Assa

4. Space Wolves:

core: 1 Wolf Priest, 1 Rune Priest, 3x 10 Grey Hunters, 15 Blood Claws in LRC, Vindicators, Dreads.

5. Eldar:

core: Farseer, 10 Warlocks, Yriel (Serpent), 2x 5 Fire Dragons (Serpent), 3x 10 Dire Avengers (Serpent), 2 Fire Prisms.

The goal is to win the German GT 2010? Or are you more aiming for a good list that is fun to play and still somewhat competitive?

In terms of being solid at this moment Id say your Mech Eldar look the most decent. But thats also because that list is more fleshed out than say the CSM, that list would depend on what you'd do with the remaining 600 points.

The Ork list looks a bit to stationary/lacking numbers/a solid theme to be a viable choice IMHO. Id try to capitalise more on either speed/numbers/shooting etc...

Both Space Marines lists... Id say the Eldar and the CSM can be more fun and still as competitive as the Marines.

Point of all these lists is that they represent the Metagame top lists. Id expect the top lists to be geared to deal with Mech Eldar and Mech MEq. A 'surprising' list may actually have more chance to catch the top players off guard than these Id say. Maybe take a second look at Necron, Daemons, Witch Hunters, Dark Eldar...

Also, the Tyranid are comming next spring. Id say the top list for next years GT may very well be Tyranid.

Keep us posted on what you'll take and why. Im intreaged.

Armies:
Daemons: 5000+ points
CSM/Black Legion: 5000+ points
Deathwatch/Knights: 5000 points

Well, not really to win, but to have fun and not get tabled.

I say drop the 3 squads of dire avengers down to 5 men and add another fireprism and drop 2 warlocks.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I say stick with terminators, I believe you've had some entertaining games with them in the past.

If it was me, I'd go with CSM just cause it has plague marines in it...love em.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Yeah, I had some great results (winning several RTT's in a row) with Termies at the 1500 pt level.
But the GT is another story, higher pt level and all kinds of max-out armies.

I say drop the 3 squads of dire avengers down to 5 men and add another fireprism and drop 2 warlocks.

I'll do some streamlining and optimization later.

If you want to have the highest chance of winning, then Space Wolves are probably your best bet, followed by Chaos Space Marines. I would rate only Imperial Guard higher then these two, but they aren't on your list.

If you like Tyranids, you could also delay your decision until their new codex is released in January.

Well, I'm not really keen on Nids.
I generally prefer small elite armies despite the fact that I'll consider Orks.

In the same boat you are trying to decide what to play. Leaning towards Space Wolves or maybe Guard because of cool conversion ideas but they have issues on the table. Although continuing eldar is a possiblty

You would be unique versus the other choices with Eldar.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Chaos- Yours is boring, all you need is to add lash to look like every other chaos army.

Orks- Nob bikers are so 2008

Space Marine- A Vulkan list...is that the best you can come up with?

Space Wolves-I voted for them because they are new, and a little different.

Eldar-Another Mech Eldar army?

Well, here mech Eldar is rather common in the tournament scene.
There were several such armies in the GT final this year.

Space Wolves-I voted for them because they are new, and a little different.

In fact, the new SW have some nice gimmicks.

Space Wolves look the most interesting. Everything else you posted is very formulaic.

I also actually like the Eldar, but I'm very leery of the eldar super-unit because one bad turn against a psychic hood could be the game.

I'd say the CSM, but sans lash. They play very differently without lash.

After that, SW. But they will also be flavor-of-the-month by then.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
