I am currently playing Eldar in a 500pts tournament and one of my enemies is fielding Ghazghull, do you think this is fair and should be allowed?

if he can fit Ghaz in then yeah, its fair and he should do it. If he wants to field Ghaz, he can't have many boys, can he. Shoot the boys, and Ghaz's support staff, then have your way with him

Uhm, what ELSE is he playing, Ghaz is over 200 points, that's nearly half his army right there. Grots and a few boyz? That's all I think will fit, but yes it is actually legal...not particularly smart though.

I thing this person has been 'cheating' as he has used Ghazgull and many more stuff including storm boys, boyz and nobs...

That's not cheating. It's perfectly legal. How is using Boyz, the foundation of an Ork army, 'cheating'?

Are you sure it was actually Ghaz? And not just his model as a Mega Armor boss?

This was brought up just a few weeks ago..... weird.
Taking Ghaz, you can take 2 boyz mobs with around 20 boyz/nob each with no upgrades. So they are EASY to kill and totally legal.
As far as taking Ghaz, boyz, stormboyz and the like, Id call foul and look at the list. Ghaz is nearly half the points for a 500 pts game.
Now if he seems to hard and just steam rolls everyone, then make the 500pt tournament a no IC tournament. That would make the game much more balanced



But yes, kill the boyz, it would be far to easy with no armor saves, and then play keep away from Ghaz. Who konws you might just whittle him down and kill him

In all the tourneys I've seen that are small 500pts. usually have a rule that the armies are small patrols and you cannot have anything with armor of 2+ or better.
So that would rule out Ghaz and MegaNobz.

I've seen the same rule but if this rule doesn't apply, there is no reason wwhy he cant take him. There's a reason why he shouldn't take him: he'll have a pathetic army and will probably lose, his army will just get shot up. Unless he has transports, which i dont think he'll have many because he needs some boyz and wont have many points left over.

that list will run over almost anything at 500.

at 500pts vs ghaz I think Id pee myself a little.


All trickery aside. He would be a tough nut to crack, but if he is on foot he could be easily avoided by moving away from him and striking at the lesser units in the army. Keep mobile. Watch out for his Waaagh.

it most certainly will not. It will obliterate 1 unit, then disappear. A single flamer would cripple ghazkull's squad, at which point you knock gaz around with some high AP weapons like melta/plasma/etc. and you win. gg.

except that the squad that went byebye was the squad with the low ap weapons i doubt you have much at 500 pts :p not to mention 2+invul waaaghing >.>

a proper horde orks list would do it; Even if you get the charge, you'll be crippled before you can do the deed. Keep in mind this is a 365 pt unit vs. a 220 pt unit;

-Ghaz and 10 boyz+PK nob charge, kill 8 boyz. My remaining 21 boyz attack back killing 9; everybody but your PK nob. the PK nob and Ghaz swing, killing 6 more. I lose 5 more to no retreat, leaving you with ghaz+nob and me with 10 boyz+nob.
-next turn; my boyz go, completely slaughtering your nob (5 wounds to save) while ghaz kills 3 more. My PK nob swings, likely doing Ghaz a wound. We tie, hang out. Ghaz vs. 7 boyz and a PK.
-your assault phase comes around; boyz can't hurt ghaz, nob wounds him again while ghaz kills 3 more. At this point they probably break and get run down or run off the table. Ghaz is left with his business swinging in the wind and 2 wounds to his name on my turn.

Don't get me started on 4-5 chimera or raider spam lists

yea ... except id never let him get assaulted by footslogging boyz .... thetyd get ot have fun with the grots, while ghaz zooms by them in a trukk

Not to mention ghaz doesnt stay attached to the boys in the trukk necessarily, most times he will disembark off the other side of the trukk and go kill tanks/hqs/units of infantry by himself.

1) Ghaz is slow and purposeful, just avoid him. Ghaz isn't going to hurt anything by shooting.

2) The only transport he can really take in a 500pt. game is a trukk, av10 and opened topped. This should be pretty easy to stop.

I don't see the problem with this at all.

Ghazkgull
3 Mega Armoured Nobs
1 Trukk
1 Looted Wagon.

Yes there is, there is one, Ghazzy makes a unit of meganobz troops.

That list STILL isnt legal. You need 1HQ and 2 troops. Unless there was a rule stating you dont follow the FOC.
So your still being hoed.

BUT that wouldnt be hard to beat that at 500pts at all. Anything with power weapon attacks and those mega nobs are toast. SM have ALOT of ways of dealing with those. A Sternguard squad with those special rounds they have would slice that build up in no time flat.

In 500 posts, I'm pretty sure you often only need 1 troop choice.

No, 1 HQ/2 Troops is the absolute minimum for anything.

Also, I believe my 500pt Guard list would tear that apart. Even Ghaz wouldn't last that long against a gunline with 2 autocannons and a lascannon. Boys and trukk obviously die, meltavets with Bastonne bring down the Wagon and/or cause Ghaz some pain. PCS with powerfist could charge the lone Ghaz and do some damage. Sheer weight of fire from so many lasguns would probably do something to 'im.

Ghaz is very vulnerable to concentrated fire and needs more than 3 mega-nobz to protect him. Ghaz just can not move quick enough, so if you take out the transport on round 1, you've won.

Totally got it. Thats rule number one in this situation, stop Ghaz from getting to you so damn fast. You pop his transport and hes rolling every turn for movement. Until he gets stuck in, hes only got his big shoota and Im sure THATLL be what wins the game lol

Again that depends on the rules for set up in the tournament. NORMALLY you have to take 1HQ and 2troopchoice. The tournament must of not used the FOC

A little less than 500 points, but you have 12 S8 AP2 lance weapons, 8 with 36" range.

He's only fielding 6 models. First turn, kill the truck. Second turn, kill the wagon. Third turn kill the Nobs. Fourth turn kill Ghaz. (Actually, might go faster than that.)
