So Ive noticed this for a while but never thought to mention it. In my school district they decided to block MANY sights on all computers in schools, myspace, facebook, you tube, any sights related to video games... and wargaming sights!!!! How dare they? BOLS is blocked, warseer, GW, FW, etc etc... all of them are blocked! But for the past two years I am still able to get on Dakka... Not sure why they havent blocked it but its fine with me...

Any one got any idea why this might be? Just thought it was rather wierd since I thought Dakka was well known then alot of other Wargaming Forums but its the only one Ive found not blocked... fine with me though!

Forever alone

Your school principal is a cyborg created by Yakface to spread the influence of Dakka.

You know it to be true.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I think you're just lucky.

But if your school did know the pains we take to keep this site at a relatively PG-13 level they should totally keep us unblocked.

Of course, then you have all the graphic overtones of 40K, but we can't do anything about that!

Anyway, glad to hear it.

I dont see the problem with any Wargaming site anyways tbh... I mean cmon, its not like porn or some bloody WTF DIE movie right? We are just spending way to much money and time buying, modeling, and painting models and if anything its art/educational and there should be an entire class for it at school...

Of course I totally agree with you, but I think every school is afraid of the next ridiculous 'Doom'=Columbine shooting connection. Or just crazy parents. If you take any of the 40K imagery or mythos out of context it sounds like absolute devil-worship to most parents who don't get it, so it isn't surprising that most schools would block any kind of imagery like that.

Yeah, it's the same issue that happened in the late 80's/early 90's with the D&D 'Satanism' controversy due to the occult and demonic themes and ideas in the game. While it's certainly a genuine cause for concern as seen with some school shootings (because there could always be someone who can't perceive that it's purely imaginary), it often does get taken too far; just look at Jack Chick's work.

If you've read the 'Space Marine Death Toys' article on PBSblog, you'll know what I mean.

Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Dunno tho, my work internet blocks most gaming forums but not dakka.

I suspect it's something to do with the word 'game' in description or something. Most filters blocking are probably there to stop folks looking at computer games and things.

Wrex, that first one was a Death Jester. That means he's there to entertain with the rest of the Trope, he plays as Death though

Lexicanum wrote:Death Jesters stand apart from the rest of the force, providing much of the masque's heavy weapon support. In performance, their role is to play Death - they perform death-defying stunts and escapology. They are known for their morbid and ironic sense of humour.

The Shrieker Cannon is the trademark weapon of the Death Jesters, as only they create and maintain them. They are a variant of the Shuriken Cannon, but instead of firing a hail of projectiles, they fire only a single shot. This shot is impregnated with a virulent acid that causes the victim's blood vessels and insides to expand violently. This usually results in a small explosion that showers squadmates with pieces of their companion.

That's way better than a Reaper Launcher.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

My work place blocks most of the other sites as well. This is why DAKKA is my site of choice, because it's available.

That's actually how I started Dakka Dakka, it was the only warhammer site not blocked at my school.

Of course now that I think about it, I would never have joined dakka otherwise so I'm happy about that!

Haha awsome, there must be a reason its not blocked since quite a few appear to have it as the only one not blocked?
