I dunno if this belonged in Army Lists, but since its pretty general i put in here

I've been thinking about starting an IG army, and my rl friend has been giving me some advice and it was pretty useful

Now, I'm taking it to the public. I need some ideas on starting a new IG army, like basic army lists and stuff to buy first and
also whats not worth buying once my army gets bigger (since I don't know much about the IG).

Company Command Squads are necessary, and I've heard some good things about Psyker Battle Squads.

I'm pretty sure Valks are near essential.

I also hear that standard Leman Russes aren't as useful as the variants.

Also, a bit Off Topic, you know we're headed over the the FLGS Friday, right? You're in, correct?

The new book offers a lot of options so you first have to pick what you like to play with and paint.

I'd say options are:
1 Infantry heavy (platoons)
2 Mechanized Vets (chimeras)
3 Airborne (valkyries and vets)
4 Armor (tanks and artillery)
5 Weird (psykers, grey knights, sisters)

There's winning army lists for all 5 and for combinations of 2 types. Once you pick a direction we can be more specific.

This is completely true. Try picking units from options 1-3 first. Then decide how much you want from options 4-5.

What time does it start? 'Cause I also think I'm goin' saturday as well, Me and Optical are going Sat and Fri.

I know i can't make it Sat (only 2 more competitions don't worry lol)
