Some new Heavy Gear Blitz! stuff is either out or soon will be:

Shattered Peace is the first of three planned 'campaign books' that cover the War for Terra Nova as the CEF make another invasion attempt. Right now a PDF is availble, with the printed book coming out soon.

This book is also including some new toys, mostly for the CEF.

First, they're bringing some allies:

The Golems are light power-armor suits used by the natives of the colony world Eden, and were intended more for combat against lightly-armed infantry than tanks. Still, they're maneuverable (if slow) and can pack a few weapons that'll scare larger vehicles. They're a cheap option for the CEF forces.

They come in an Alpha and a Beta squad. The Alpha is the lighter 'patrol' while the Beta has more heavy weapons. I think the heaviest weapon they get is the Medium Rifle seen on Mr. 3rd from the left here.

The CEF has also added some new Frames, in the form of the Kommando Squad.

This squad uses stealth versions of the existing F6-16 Frames along with new BF2-25 dedicated stealth frames.

It's been a quiet couple of months on the release front for Dream Pod 9 but these should be shipping soon.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

They're actually 1/144, which apparently works out to around 12mm. The Gear Krieg stuff is 15mm.

I have asked the guys for a pic with some Gears to get an idea of scale a bit better.

They're pretty accurate to the designs done a while ago for the Life on Eden book, but they've been upgunned a bit and I think they may be a bit larger than the origional inspiration, but I'm guessing they're a bit smaller than Gears (which are normally about the same height as a Space Marine miniature).

While I love the Heavy Gear background and the game was a lot of fun, those first two groups of minis are terrible. They look like robots with baseball socks on, or stockings.

The third group of robots looks ace though!

The Golems (the first two pics) are in-setting supposed to be kind of awkward looking. They're from Eden, although Utopia fielded some similar designs. In the old material they'd mostly be used against human scale opponents, and were armed with a lot of anti-infantry weapons. As I understand it, Eden's armies were mostly run by independent warlord types and they couldn't afford big toys like true Heavy Gear scale walkers (not that anyone was selling).

Essentially, they're armies that looked impressive in a parade, but didn't do much. No the CEF is 'asking' that they go out and fight Heavy Gears, a task for which they're somewhat outmatched.

I just checked the book and the Black Talons can take these, too.

They're in a weird niche from a mechanics point of view. They're priced between Infantry and Gear squads. They're armed to shred infantry, and they have a couple weapons that can hurt Gears, but they're slow and very vulnerable. I'm hoping to get some battle reports for them.

The new Battle Frames are, in-setting, a new design that really scares the engineers on the other side. The original Frames were an impressive effort to reverse-engineer Heavy Gears and build a design that is more advanced, and these are an even more impressive attempt.

There's some interesting new stuff still in the pipeline, like an upgraded Naga and a new Hetario hovertank.

I bought the PDF on its release day, and the new minis are nice, but the book itself was such a disappointment after RtCE...
