Just got off the phone with Games Workshop US, I've had a subscription to the White Dwarf for years now (I know I'm crazy) and Usually I get it by the third week of the previous month, But I never got this month's issue. I called customer service and they told me that the policy has changed on all magazines. Subscriptions and stores copies will be released at the same time to arrive on the first Saturday of the month. Yet another reason for them to loose subscribers. The two reasons I kept getting it was I would get it weeks before the stores and it was a little cheaper... Now there is only the cost factor..

I see the next thing they will start would be charging full price and saying that we deliver it to your home is why you should subscribe...

I'd love to know what White Dwarf's sales figures are compared to a few years ago.

Same here. I'm betting about 50-60%.

Yes, it's true, I learned about this change several weeks ago. Here's one reason why they made this change.

You know how a few months ago there were pictures of some cool model previews from various international non-English language White Dwarf issues leaked onto the forums before most people had their own copies in the US, UK, etc.? Well, GW decided that they'd prefer it if everyone around the globe got their issues of WD at nearly the same time to prevent that sort of thing happening again.

GW sales and marketing policies are baffling.

That's quite possibly the stupidest reason I've heard in a long time.
Perhaps I just don't understand this from a sales perspective. Apparently I'd need to kill some more brain cells though.

Here's another tidbit of info that helps explain the new disparity between delivery of store subscriptions and home subscripitons. I just learned about this change a few days ago.

It used to be that both were delivered in the US by the USPS. Now, the store subscriptions are delivered in a bundle at once by UPS while the home subscriptions are still delivered by the USPS of course.

Also there was a post a while ago on Bloomburg Financial news that they had just entered in to an agreement for some Mag publishing group to take over sales and distribution , while GW provided the source material.

I have not seen any more about this but I'm willing to be this has some thing to do with it.

I dont think any company tries harder than GW to get customers to not buy their products

WD is also odd because (in the US at least) the post office considers it a catalog not a magazine since it has no outside ads.

So it costs more to ship and it ships slower.

Well, it is a catalog, so they made the right call there.

After a mixed year (mostly poor, with the exception of the Space Hulk issue where they showed signs of remembering what WD should be about), I'm not renewing my subscription. Everything in the magazine can usually be found out prior to publication via the pages of Dakka

The new White Dwarf release policy seems to be playing havoc with my subscription. This is now the second month in a row that my issue was late and I had to call customer service for a replacement. I've had trouble here and there over the years with the odd issue, but never two months in a row before that I can recall.

By the way, today is the day that US White Dwarf #358 (Skaven cover) is considered officially late if you haven't received it yet. That means customer service will provide a replacement issue for those that haven't arrived.

Does the US have Saturday mail deliveries?

Just the OP said GW was trying to get them to you on store release date... which is a saturday.

My wife gets my subscription every year for my christmas present and I kick in for the mini.

I should just buy them on discount each month from a web retailer in the UK but couldn't be bothered.
