Hey guys, just been looking at the new skaven minis and was wondering how the painters go about achieving that glowing effect on the various bits of warpstone on the models. Ie: the chunk of warpstone embedded in the Vermin Lord's skull (http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m550075a_99060206051_SkavenVerminLord_873x627.jpg)

It looks like a light brushing of yellow and green around his horns and top of skull. Any tips?

Yea, that.

Just water it down a lot (or use blending mediums, etc). Do lots of thin coats and be gradual.

Aye, sorry - only just joined a few days back. I used to be here back in 4th and 5th ed, but took a break after that. The new skaven have made me come back out of the woodworks.

The technical term is (I think) Object Source Lighting - OSL. I'm looking at giving it a shot myself, post pics if you try

Yea, I think that is right (OSL). Its not for beginners, that is for sure.

OSL, like NMM are not techniques for beginners.

I'm not saying you can't try, but don't expect it to be any good if you do without a bit of practice. Some people never master it, and it's a technique that only looks good when you do.
