Alright guys heres the deal. My buddy and i are playing a Campaign and tonight is our 1000 point game. Im running more or less the starts of a Kan wall. I have 3 squads of 20 Boyz, Nob w/ PK ect, 9 Kans with Grot Zookas and a KFF mech. My buddy is big on the Nidzilla thing with a Gaunt wall and usually a couple units of Stealers. What would be the best tactic for such a battle.
After this one were going to move up to 1500, then 2000, then 2500. Nids are the only list i have trouble with. Any suggestions would be great. Like i said the games tonight so i dont have much time. Thanks guys!

Stealers are useless against large mobs of orks, especially if they don't have flesh hooks and you make them assault through cover...dont let them get near the kans though...with some decent rending rolls you could lose a lot of kans fast.
Engaging carnifexes in cc with a large mob of boyz with a hidden PK is a great way to sort them out. Fexes are usually not equipped for melee so they should only kill 1 or 2 boyz a turn. Softening them up with grot zookas couldn't hurt though.
Be more wary of hive tyrants. If it has wings deal with it fast. If you can't prepare to lose a lot of models. If it's walking with guard (unlikely in 1k points) you will have an easier time dealing with it since you can avoid it...mostly.

His hive Tyrant ALWAYS has 2 guards with it. That things such a pain in the ass to take out. He usually runs in a "block" style formation with the gaunt wall. and he usually flanks with the stealers.
So should i essentially Tie up his Fexes with Boyz? Use my Kans to drop Pie plates on the Stealers/Gaunts and hope for the best?
Im running all sluggas (i hate shootas). This will be the first time ive run a Kan wall. I usually run a horde army but its annoying to move 150 pieces and it doesnt seem like enough to stop his fexes.
Thanks for the replies.

Tyrant and guard...ok you need to mob up on him with lotsa boys and PK nobs. I'm a nid player and I learnt my lesson the hard way. After assaulting 24 boys with 2 PKs he was left with about 15 boys and I had 1 very dead HQ. A nasty trick to pull would be to multi charge a mob of boys with the kans into them. He will want to hit the boys but won't because doing so means getting hit by a lot of S10. Also a lot less chance of getting through a kan through there is of ripping a apart a boy, so you shouldn't even lose combat.
If he outflanks the stealers just stay away from the edges (18" away). When he wants to assault make sure he does so through cover.
Carnifexes die in cc (especially with the amount of attacks a regular boy puts out).
Remember though...stay in range of the KFF.

Hey guys i just wanted to give you an update. It was a 1000 Point battle with 2 control points. One on each side of the table. The whole game was VERY close and the Kans made such an amazing difference in the battle. On my last turn (bottom of turn 6) 3 of my killa kans wiped out his unit that was on his control point. I pulled a draw because the turn before that, he blasted my last 12 Boyz that were sitting on my objective before i could tie up his units with my Kans. Overall an amazing game. The closest game i have ever played. Thank you all for the tips.

Yea burnas and blast templates are your friend when facing nids or other horde armies. This is when the boom gun comes in handy. Hammering that thing on some nids will easily make up for its points Automatically Appended Next Post: Congrats on the game btw

Lobbas or Kannons is what I prefer... S5 3 templates that scatter off of bs 3 instead of 2... also the big gunz do not have a 1/6 chance in breaking down that turn...
also 1000 points buys 4 mobz of 30 boyz and a burna KFF mek with a cybork body and Eavy Armor...

Yeah but when you assault something like a Hive Tyrant or a Fex with 30 boyz and only 1 PK, your going to eventually lose. I mean, yeah its good that you can Tie them up for a while but your only going to tie them up until he decides to bring his genestealers over and finish your mob off.
Trust me, i was a HUGE green tide fan. I ran 150 Boyz with Ghaz and MANZ in battlewagons...it didnt do nearly as well as the kan wall.

I used to fear Nidzilla lists, but no more....
1. A squad of burna boyz are absolutely the answer to monstrous creatures. If you mathhammer it out, a squad of 15 burna boyz can multi-assault two carnifexes and will come out on top. For broods and genestealers, burna boys dropping 15 templates out of a battlewagon onto them makes it quite lollerskates.
2. Ghazghkull on the Waaaugh! is my other answer to monstrous creatures. Whenever possible, I have Ghazghkull try multi-assaulting two MCs if they keep them close enough together for me to do so. His 2+ Invulnerable saves can laugh off pretty much all the attacks against him, and the 7 STR10 powerklaw attacks he dishes out will readily put any Hive Tyrant or Carnifex into the dirt. Perhaps more importantly are the rules on complex assaults; if you have Ghazghkull assault and tie up two MCs by himself for a turn, the following turn you can assault into the MCs with another unit, and the MCs are still forced to attack Ghazghkull. He'll only have a 5+ invul save at this point after two rounds of close combat, but after using him for his Waaaugh! and his 2+ invul save to tie up / seriously damage / kill something, his use is pretty much spent anyway, and on the turn you do so, you should have pretty much decided the game.
In really big games (2500 points) I take tank-bustas, and all those STR8 AP3 Rokkit shots can put down some Carnifexes too.

To avoid the temptation of building a list tailored to your opponent...
Short answer: I would recommend taking Lootas (Standard Ork answer) as they are good against any list (horde, mech, or MC spam)
Long Answer: Dashofpepper is right on about...
Burna boyz: You have to provide them transportation (a borrowed Trukk from a squad of Nobz works great) or you just have to put them behind a unit of boyz so they can get the counter charge...
Tankbusters: You have to have something to block their LOS when you are fighting a different army with vehicles...
Ghazghkull: You have to get him either a Trukk or a Battlewagon, I would go the latter so he does not get his ride shot from under him. If you go Trukk, have enough trukks backed by a KFF so that the trukk cannot be even shot at...
