It is discussed a bit in these threads and loads more. Just type in 'snow' to the search function!

Read those...

how does the GaleForce9 flock compare to the woodlands scenic?

Has anyone used it?

Also - do you base before painting? or after painting? Im not such a great painter and worry that I will drop paint onto the base.

Define 'best'.

It's probably better if you try a few different ones and/or visit some hobby stores/clubs and look at them in person and decide on which effect you like best.

Generally snow work or any type of flocking is done after painting and varnish. Gravel and 'hard basing' etc is usually done before priming. Some people paint bases and models seperately then join the two when finished. It's a preference thing.

As far as bases go Ive used sugar and watered down elmers glue. When you add just a little too much water to the mix, the sugar melts. And when it dries looks like pretty decent snow.

Heres a couple pics of what I was talking about. It dries rock hard and nothing falls off. The only thing is I had to leave it near a heat source to dry faster.

I have recently done some research and asking around myself.

Seems that using Woodland Scenics snow on the bottom and GW snow on the top works best.

I picked up the GF9 snow as well and am going to try it out, along with trying combinations where I paint part of the base underneath white first.
