Although I've mainly used only GW's Black Primer, with good results.

However, my FLGS sells Armory's primer as well, and I want to be sure that the results are good, at least.

So how is it?

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I have black and I'm unimpressed. It's very grainy and I've had a few problems with it. I'd stick with GW if you're happy with it or try plain old Krylon or Rustoleum.

I've gone back to Tamiya primers.

also, it tends to get more gritty if the conditions are right (hot, humid) compared with the gw primer. as long as you don't use it during that type of weather, it works well.

Armory is more susceptible to weather influences, but when it works, I would rate it at LEAST twice as good as GW primer.

Also, it stinks like regurgitated death warmed over in a microwave, eaten again, vomited twice for good measure, then refrigerated with a lemon peel.

I love the smell of primer in the morning.

Wonderfully graphic criticism. But what is it, exactly, that makes it twice as good as GW primer (when it works)?

I've used both the black and white armory primer, and i have to say, avoid it. It's never come out looking nice for me, always gritty, even if weather conditions are nice, dry and cool. If you want something alittle cheeper, try out Army Painter's line. Im in love with their black primer, and with them having it in all different colors too, im sure youll find something that works for what you want.

I shake it thoroughly and have painted over 100 Orks with it. I adore the stuff.

The black is okay, the white is great.

I've only had bad experiences with it, on more than one occasion it has put a nice coat of "fuzz" all over the things i was priming. At first i thought it was the weather but i've tried it in a number of different conditions without success. For me though nothing beats Duplicolor Sandable Primer.

I tried the black and I'm praying that I'll be able to get it off my terminators without damaging them. It was very gritty and dusty... I would end up with a black powder on my hands if I touched the models long after the primer was dry. Really not worth it in my opinion. I've since switched to Krylon spray paint and it works marvelously. Just as cheap too.

It's the crappy tips they use. The grit is over-spray usually. Scrub your terminators with a soft toothbrush, . That should smooth it down.

I wasted money on Armory Primer once. That was enough.

Quote for truth! The stuff works great when it works, but I gave up and switched to plain old Krylon because I could never get right. Something about atmospheric conditions and the alignment of the moon and Jupiter, or maybe my zodiac sign was wrong, I'm not really sure honestly. In all seriousness though, it works well but can be tough to get right - and thus probably not worth it when there are plenty of other cost effective and easier to use alternatives.

I have used the White Primer for my tau army and tbh I love the stuff. It has worked well for me and I have always gotten a good even spray with the stuff.
