Hi,

I just bought an army that includes some painted units, that I'm going to paint the rest to match. I also want to touch up the units that I have by adding a wash to them. The only question is, which wash?

I'll try to post up some pictures this weekend, but the army is painted goblin green (underbellies), a dark green (scales), gold (any hardware) and brown (shields, shafts, and the like). I'll try to find out the exact colors as well, I believe they are GW's.

My thought is to use Devlan mud on everything except the mouths. I also have Ogryn Flesh, and could pick up anything you thought might be good. I'd like to darken the models a bit, not brighten them, and definitely not make them more green... hence my leaning away from Thraka Green.

Ideas are welcome . Pics of the before-and-after soon to follow!!

Thraka Green wash for the underbelly and scales, devlan mud for the hardware and Baal Red or Badab Black for the brownish red, might work

Sorry, I just had a look at them and had edited the original post. It's straight-up brown, rather than brownish red.

That sounds like a lot of work! Could I get away with just using one wash over the whole model (for a tabletop standard) like in Chrispy's guide to speed-painting orks (the thread that gave me the idea for this!). I don't speed paint, but I also have very, Very little time, so it equates to the same thing . Here's the link to that guide:

What do you guys think?

Ofc. Devlan mud will work... thats why people call it devlan magic.
Tabletop standard is I belive 3 colors, so you should even get away with priming them and dip 2/3 in green and then 1/3 in red... : )

i would just test one out with an overall Ogryn Flesh wash, and see what you think...
i have a feeling it would work just fine over all the different colours you've listed...

cheers

Hi Jah,

Good idea . I've got a model to spare from each squad of Saurus, so I may test out one of each. Although, if I'm satisfied with the results from the first test, I might just keep on going...!

I'll post pics as soon as I've tried it out
