Salutations! This is my first ever post (I just signed up a few minutes ago), and I have a question. I play Space Wolves, and while making a list realized that Bjorn the Fell-Handed does not have a Drop Pod listed as a dedicated transport. Dreadnoughts and Venerables get Drop Pods, I was wondering if this was an oversight or what? I realize that it really depends on if my opponent would allow me to put him in a Drop Pod, but I wanted to get some other opinions on this subject...

Thanks for your time!

No, he can't.

No, it isn't an oversight.

Bjorn has no option for a Drop Pod, so he can't take one. Do you claim that Ragnar being unable to take Terminator Armour because Normal Wolf Lords can is an oversight? Didn't think so.

Sorry for the tone, but I am kinda sick of people claiming "This MUST be an oversight!" whenever something doesn't go their way.

I wasn't claiming it as an oversight, I was asking someone more experienced than I if it was... Thanks for clarifying.

Yomamamancer, Gwar! comes on strong, but he's mostly harmless. This doesn't mean he's incorrect and being Dakka's resident Trolle means that he's in the right far more than otherwise so take his advice to heart. Just remember to use fire or acid to make sure he doesn't come back.

Welcome to Dakka, btw!

I would have no problem with an opponent fielding him in a drop pod.

Too silly. There is no way to buy him a pod, nor is there reference to him being able to ride in a pod.

However, buying another squad a drop pod and puting Bjorn in in should be alright.

Nope, you can't start in someone else's Dedicated Transport.

This is correct. Pods are only taken as Dedicated Transports. Only the unit it is bought for can start the game in it. And since all Pods arrive from Deep Strike, the unit has to be in it (or not, but you still can't fill it with another unit.)

Only time you can do it is in Apocalypse. Since in Apocalypse you can take what ever you want.

Actually, no.

You can only take allowed unit entries. Since Bjorn has no option for a drop pod, its still not allowed.

I take a drop pod for no one (allowed since you don't need FOC for Apoc) he can ride in it since its no longer dedicated to any one. Must be a pain to play you. Apocalypse is all about making an Epic battle.

No, I just use rules as stated in a codex and the rulebook.

Only way to buy a drop pod is as a dedicated transport, BGB states only the squad a dedicated transport was bought for may start the game embarked in it.

Apoc or not, You can not just buy a drop pod.

And page 18-19, of Apocalypse, tell you to ignore those restrictions and to "-just bring along all your models". As i said Apocalypse is for the fun of it rule crunching has no place.

wrong, you can do whatever you want with apoc. feel like daemonhunters teaming up with chaos demons? sure, just make a good story per RAW. feel like taking an all fast attack army? don't have the 2 troops and 1 hq? sure go ahead, it's apoc. want to take 3,000pts of DH orbital strikes and field NO models as your "army"? it's apoc, it's legal.

yes and no. Apoc is a much more loose game, but you still must follow the rules for each specific unit, there are no force org charts, but Bjorn simply does not have the option for a drop pod.

You can take the imperial armor dreadnought drop pod for him though, then he can even assault on the turn he comes in.

I could not, for instance, field a land raider equipped with 2 twin linked volcano cannons. that just doesnt work. If i write up rules for it and ask my opponents before hand, sure, but not normally.

its the same situation, you are making up rules if you give Bjorn a drop pod.
