Has anyone heard anything about a re-release (or something) for Wood Elves? I've been thinking about starting an army and I checked the GW website today only to find that their battalion no longer exists. I know they had one a few days ago. Anyone know what's up with that? I don't have much experience with GW's shenanigans, so I'm not sure if they're recutting sprues or pulling the battalion or what.

Intriguing, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Don't think we're expecting wood elves for another year at least.

But...

A WD News In Brief made reference to a new army book under the heading of "If you go down to the woods today, you're in for a nasty surprise." Everybody assumed they were talking about Beasts of Chaos, but GW might be blindsiding us again.

EDIT - Just checked website and battalion still appears to be on sale (it let me put it in my basket anyway). Personally, I think you're pretty safe with wood elves for the time being. I don't expect them to be updated before 2011 and even then the plastics are of good enough quality to not be replaced IMO.

Yeah, we're pretty confident that Beasts are up next.

Woodies are not one of the oldest books out there, have aged relatively well, and got LOTS of new figures (including all three of their Core units getting new and sexy plastic kits) last time around, so I don't think they're up anytime soon.

The last couple of editions Wood Elves get an updated army book, then the new edition of WHFB is released. I would not expect anything until 2012 (if were still here that is).

if they come out with new beast men that is definetly my next army.

Doesn't that whole end of the world thing happen at the end of the year? If so, as long as WE are not the Christmas release, you should get to see them.

Completely off topic, if that whole end of the world thing IS going to happen, why pay to watch a movie about it when we can see it for real in three year's time completely free of charge?

The world as we know it ends in 2012.... and the next day we all live happily everafter in the world as we don't know it yet. something like that.

The whole 2012 thing is BS. The Mayans themselves deny it, and they were expecting a royal anniversary sometime in the 4000's. It's also no different from our 12 month calendar restarting every year.

There's a lot of scientific proof that it's nonsense too. I recommend reading it up on Astroengine if you're worried...

Sorry, I tend to ramble about that. The movie is awful too, BTW.
