I was thinking of getting it since it kind of cheap know. I never been a fan of real military shooter (I like sci-fi more) but after I saw the trailer for its sequel I’m thinking of getting it.

1: What’s it storyline is it worth anything?
2: good for hours of fun with a good friend?
3: How much does it glorify war?

I originally hated the game (don’t know why but it may be my "going against the group mentality") but it looks good.

1. The storyline was ok, not great though.
2. It's not co-op and if your only gonna do 1 vs 1 split screen it'll get boring fast.
3. Not sure on that.

1: good storyline, and a real challenge when you throw up the difficulty.
Ive gone through the game around 40 times now making sure ive done everything. (and im still not bored of it )
Almost every mission has a different take on the warfare, ranging from silent ops to sniping to all out war.

2: no co-op play, but online really does kick ass.
Worth buying the game simply for the online play.
Offline will get boring very quickly via split-screen.

3: Not really, pretty much a basic level on this, it does not glorify it in any way, it tends to avoid moving into that grey area.

garret, really mate, the online is great, have you got friends who play it? if so, keep with them and in party/private chat.

you will find that how serious people take it depends on the game type.

Team deathmatch - its all fun, no one really cares about it.

Search and destroy - pretty serious, i would get some practive in 1st before playing this.

Big team - Just like deathmatch, but with even less care.
Its usually objective orientated, so being killed means nothing, just rush in.

Hardcore team deathmatch - a serious version of DM, friendly fire is ON, so be careful, you also lose your basic radar and aiming crosshares.

Hardcore search and destroy - I really would play this unless you know how to play the game to a pretty high level.
Same as Hardcore DM, you lose radars and aiming hares, meaning you have to be very careful what corners you walk round, you team is usually easy to piss off if you get in thier way, and if you kill them you will get nothing but gak for it until the end of the game.

Glorify war? It actually shows things in war the masses are usually ignorant to i.e. chopper pilot stranded, counter-terrorists beating up and executing war prisoners and horrible nuclear exposions.

Hard to see where the glorification is. The thing I liked most about the game is how it showed things that weren't usually seen in the domain of video games.

Gotta say, in Act II "Shock and Awe," it really took my breath away. The whole build up and conclusion is well worth the cheap price.

MW2 will have a co-op feature
also, spec ops mode allows 1-2 (i think its actually 1-4) player i do believe.

Keeper: shock is a great mission
Also, if we are going for great missions ill throw in "charlie dont surf" and "all ghillied up"

It really is worth buying modern warfare 1 1st, that way your used to how it all works (even though they will be running it slightly different)
Also, the storyline has a slight followup from the origional

Forever alone

The single-player is short but good. The multiplayer is the main reason I bought it. The elitism I see is sometimes unbearable, but it's fun and challenging.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I think it is worth getting. I've played through about half of the campaign and really enjoy it. If you do get it... try it in Veteran mode... kicks hella butt.

I've just reinstalled CoD4 on my PC and installed Lt. Speir's realism mod and various skins. Still a great game, very intense.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I would say that it doesn't glorify war, it kind of makes you feel bad about going to war. Until you see some terrorist f-tard kill one of your guys in the game and then you realize that war sucks and its good to kill terrorists because they are well... evil.

It doesn't really glorify war, it tells you its horrible(like any veteran will most likely tell you) and not fun, but can be justified in some cases.

Not going into any politics here, but it seems to be pretty liberal at times and then conservative. Its a happy balance in terms of video games and political agendas.

But yes, split screen will get boring as there is no dedicated co-op in the game.
