I got a couple of old Chaos Familiars off ebay recently for 20p each! Bargainous. So today I painted up Four Arms. He's about half the size of a normal miniature and mounted on a small round base since I didn't have any small square ones kicking about.

The robes are an experiment. To explain, I'll use GW equivalent paint names: The darker colour (not sure what to call it, you'll see why) begins with Warlock Purple and is given a couple of washes of Deadly Nightshade. After this, Blood Red is used to highlight up to a fair strength of colour which is in turn highlight with Sky Blue (?) and finished off with Skull White. The end result is a colour somewhere on the spectrum between red and blue but not quite purple or Octarine. Let me know how well this has worked, since I quite like it but am prone to be bias about my own work.

For metallics, I'm now using the Plasti-kote range of enamel metal paints which are absolutely superb... but smelly. Expect more experiments with this paint in the future.

like tha paint job just not digging the basing.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

tbh, I was a bit stuck on the base, mainly because of the scale... there's a lot of space, but not much that I could think of to do with it. I'll have the same issue with the Dragonet I think.

I'm no longer a Hasslefree virgin!

Really pleased with how this guy is coming along so far, only painted his bottom half so far and the front of his torso. Not entirely happy with his eyes (painted like those of a deer, but too tiny to see) so I might change those but we'll see how it looks when I finish his face.

Still got to paint his back, arms, head, antlers and maybe get some oak leaves for his base. Bent his antlers into a better shape than originally supplied too.

His colours are based on those of a Roebuck, also known as a Red Deer, rather than going the more traditional fantasy route with him.

I'm hoping to have him finished off fairly soon, he's a birthday present from my gran, sort of (she sent me money to get me something I wanted )

yes, and since it's flaccid it should be no more controversial than models (of which there are many) with exposed breasts. It's just a nude male.

Finished this one off and finally got photographs of him. Hasslefree are definitely worth the asking price, their miniatures are far better in person than in their website photographs.

I'm a huge fan of old miniatures and the painting challenge they present. I have a particular soft spot for the old sorcerors and familiars range (you've seen Four Arms that kicked this thread off) and was surprised when I realised I hadn't updated with Azoth Soulflay.

Painted in a Tzeentch style theme, I'm pleased enough with him. If I ever finish the Slaanesh Cult of Noise, the massive Eldar Warhost, the Harlequin Theatre and the myriad other miniatures on my shelf I would love to start up a Tzeentch army heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian artwork... but for now, Azoth will have to do.

I know virtually nothing about the Kryomek universe so I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted with this mech. Would be interested to know what you all think about him.

Codenamed MNT-1, or Minty, because of his minty fresh colour scheme.

I've got another Talos and a Hellcat in my collection but I don't know exactly where I got these models from.

Nice Talos unit.

I'd be interested in seeing your hellcat (I have my two slightly converted and painted up as ED-209s from an old Cyberpunk 2020 game - as they are a good scale match for 25-28mm).

Although I did play kryomek a few times, I didn't use them at all in that game.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Anyone else think Boba Fett from Star Wars?

The thought had crossed my mind, which is why the bottom left picture made it into the montage.

Hasslefree miniature.

This is their Gryphon, which seems to have an oversized base supplied until you put the mahoosive wings on. Nice fit and no requirement for filling, interesting model all round.
