So, I just got into 40k maybe 3 months ago, and my first few games were mainly using Risk pieces against my friends' Risk pieces, with a few mancala stones and chess pieces thrown in for good measure. Well, I'm finally building a real army now (two of them also have real armies, and one other will be getting one soon), and decided I might as well document it here on Dakka. And so, without further ado, the Fresian Second Expeditionary (named after Fresno, where the femme lives - yes, she did cringe a little when she heard the name of the army).

I won't post my first model, because I don't want to be shamed. C&C appreciated, I really have no idea what I'm doing.

Some lasgunners. Yeah, I named every model because I'm just that cool.

A closeup of Bromsel, the manliest Guardsman. He's too cool for using his lasrifle.

Sergeant Niskip.

Grenade Launchers!

Flamers!

Group Photo! They're not all white because I'm trying to build space nazis or anything, I just thought it would be simpler to stick with one skin color for my first batch.

Jarilo and his Scout Sentinel. Jarilo is the pre-Christian Slavic god of War and Harvest (odd combination, I know); I wanted to go with a mythological theme for my vehicles but felt like Greek/Norse is overused.

Last thing for today, the first member of my Psyker Battle Squad. Idea "borrowed" from Hyperviper6. Those are High Elf Archer Legs/Torso, and Seaguard spears with the point chopped off and replaced with a pair of aquilas.

More updates as they come. I also have 2 hydras, a chimera, a manticore, and a Leman Russ assembled. Pictures of them when something interesting comes of them.

I read the title as Fenrisian, which is the snowy Space Wolves home planet. at any rate, I think this is a good start. You don;t see many snow-camo IG armies. I think you should stick to this color scheme.

If you upload pics to the Dakka Gallery, you can resize them and make them easier to look
at for regular monitor sizes. (Unless I'm the one running under-equipped here...)

Looks like a solide start.

I like the idea behind the psyker, may have to hunt round for some bits...

it might just be the angle but does the sentinal look like its falling down?

Yeah, it might be the angle. It's supposed to be stepping onto that mound of snow with its left leg, as though the driver suddenly noticed something in that direction and wheeled the sentinel around. I'll try to get a photo of it at a better angle when I get home, as well as reuploading the pictures to the Dakka gallery.

I finished up the Psyker Battle Squad of 6, but I don't think I'll paint them yet - I'll stick with Guardsmen until I get better. I still don't know what to use as the Overseer though, I suppose I can just use a Guardsman until I make up my mind. Speaking of Psychic stuff, all my 1500 army is missing that I still have to buy is 3 chimeras and a Sage for my Inquisitor. Any ideas on what model to use for the Sage? Well, I also need a Master of Ordnance but I'll probably just use an old guy head from the command squad and a vox.

The battleforce should be coming in the mail today, so I'll be getting started on more Guardsmen and the second sentinel. I'm planning on having it in a sprinting pose, leaping straight ahead. I also got a Forgeworld Executioner turret off of Ebay, it came yesterday. Having only worked with plastic before, I can say to you that working with resin is hell. I accidentally chopped off a large rivet thinking it was an air bubble and had to redo it with greenstuff.
