This game almost turned into a mirror match. My default 500 point skorne list is a Tyrant Xerxis list that buffs up the Swordsmen with Merciless Assault (a spell that allows them to make an additional attack each turn with each of their weapons) and looks for an opening through which Xerxis can charge through the lines and wreck face with the Pillars of Halaak (the two large monument things he uses for clubs).

However, since Matt brought Xerxis, I switched my Tyrant out for Makeda, the general who enhances her troops resilience and their melee abilities.

Down under

Thanks for the report

Sounds like Makeda really did her thing.

Were the bloodrunners able to threaten your lines effectively? I'm thinking about buying them for my skorne...but then I'm also thinking about buying them to convert into a ninja bloodbowl team too. Hehe.

Matt was rusty, and instead of holding them back a turn and THEN charging them in (coupled
with the fact that Advanced Deployment was limited due to the weekly global effect), he gave
me first strike. However, he might have given me first strike anyway with Savagery up, but a running
Praetorian would be difficult for Makeda to keep within the effect of Carnage without advancing
her more than I was comfortable.

As it was, the Bloodrunners got too close, the Krea was able to speed things along, and Carnage
gave my Swordsmen the advantage.

Under different conditions, I'd have worried about them more.
