So I want to start making better terrain for my battles at home... recently a family member found a model of notre dam on the internet that was really cheap (4 or 5 bucks I think?) so I put it together (it is supposed to fit together with no glue... it sticks together... if you can get the pieces to allign... hah... good luck). It isnt propper scale as you can see the orc/warrior are about 3x bigger then the doors <.< however I think it makes a fine shrine that is rather big...

After I finish putting it together I plan on chopping it up some then taking a torch too it

Oh and the instructions for this kit was a picture of 8 slabs of wood with tiny little numbers by each piece (I think it was like... 200+ little numbers...) and just wow... Ill take a picture of it later and it was jsut bad so I actually figured out how to put it together by looking at pictures haha...

Thoughts and ideas on what to do/add to this piece of... outscaled chuchy shrine o thing?

Oh and I dont plan on glue-ing those two pieces together so that I can use as two smaller pieces of terrain

Very very nice, that will look extremely good when painted as a centre piece, and the fact that its modular makes it even better, allows for better scenery placement.

Is it me or does this scream of a level on Unreal T on xbox 360? If it is then you've picked a good model to base it on

There's some good skill gone into this model

Very cool. Balsa wood?
What I would do is cut out the central circle on the front, then cut straight down from the edges of the circle to meet up with the existing door. It would look like one big arch door that a model could fit through, if you're going for a shrine.

looks good dude!

Definately destroy it carefully a bit, and make the doors bigger. Id go with a brown wooden look with little metal bits here and there, maybe get a few minature old lamps and a bell!

Nice.

Full on, Full on!

That's great and you can't beat the price.

"Ruining" it is the way to go since you can conceal a lot of the odd joins.

I once bult one of the Eiffel Tower and, for something with 4 identical sides, the kit was all skewed and the instructions were a joke !! It blew up real good, tho

Took zee torch to the shrine. Still need to add rubble to it and cut it up some more, paint it, then possibly take the torch to it again just for the same burnt affect it has at the moment.

WOW! Not only is is the build itself gorgeous, but I am very happy to see that you used an actual burning affect to provide that authentic looking burning look. Kudos to you! I will defenitely keep an eye on this topic.

I personally dont, as I said it was a family member who found and bought it but I can try to get it from them and link it for you. And to answer the question on type of wood, it is apparently a plywood but its really thin. It just came in like 8 sheet that had everything precut so you just plucked them out of it and it snapped alltogether (rather frustrating and impossible to build itself without improvising)

They were all over the place in China and pretty cheap too, under $10. Laser cut plywood models of most major monuments.

I was so tempted to make Tiananmen Gate into some sort of grim oppressive Imperial bunker but thankfully I made my Wisdom Check.
