Hi all!

I'm starting a Sons of Horus army. The thing is at some points thought as you my imagine because there are not lots of veteran armours around in the GW catalogue. So I surfed a bit on the internet found some bits company and make them an order to build up 40 marines.

My order was composed of 24 legs of normal SM, with no knee pads and 16 of the CSM legs.
The body front all go with out eagles. They are both from SM and CSM again.
Arms assorted from both.
Heads, that was thought i read that many go without helmet so i did 60% helmet, 40% without. The heads were most from Black templars sprue as they really look alike the Horus heresy bookfront.
Weapons are 4 special weapons, 4 heavy weapons, 4 sargeants, 10 CC and 18 bolter.
For the 4 sargeants i choosed, 4 dark angels as i loved the fully cloaked body of them.

Basically the idea is to build them as a CSM army. So the CC and the bolter go on the same squad of the bolter as they allow both cofigurations. In theory they are made to be 4 squads of 10 marines each. And every squad to have a sargeant with a power weapon or powerfist, a special weapon and a heavy weapon.

But i wanted from you all is to ask. What do you think? You think its ok to use the SM and CSM pieces together to build up a heresy army, are the fully cloaked sargeants against background? Have any more ideas? Would it be nice to pick up a standard to paint some freehand(i'm willing to)

Feed me with ideas please so i can get them done and work on Horus himseld!

Thanks in advance to you all!

How about a Dreadnaught in there? Maybe take a loyal SM model and have it look as if it is slowly mutating? Also with Horus, he was larger than the other SM I believe. Are you going to extend the joints out to make him taller?

Sounds solid to me personally. I am doing pre-heresy EMP CHL. and I used just SM parts with a few Chaos heads mixed in. I think youll be fine all around, but definatly if you can throw in a few vehicles or if you can sculpt/convert it a dre3d or two would be awsome. Remember the SOH were the forefront of the emporers legions his right hand if you will and as such had the most up to date and best gear available on hand.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

the sons of horus/luna wolves didnt make any mention of dreadnaughts. the only one ive come accross in the books is ancient rylanor who was Emp chl if a recall corectly. alsoreading through helmets were standard on all infantry including upper echelons (except Julius Kausoron) mainly due to the fact vox units were inside the helmet. thus remove the helmet. remove coms. other than that sounds good man. wish i had enough disposible income to do something like that.

Thanks for the replies.

About doing conversions;
well, Horus is my first step, in dakka-gallery i found a Horus which is totally what I'll be going for. After he is done, Sure i'll try to make a nice Abbadon, a Maloghurst... the sky is the limit!

About vehicles and future additions;
Definetly 3 rhinos, 2 dreads at least. That's my intention from the very start. Also to model some termies, which i don't know how to get them done, but i'll get to that later on.

Question;
Once explained more or less what i've in mind, i have to ask... How good/bad ideas is to paint some obliterators in the sons of horus scheme? Or a Defiler?

Once again, thanks for your repplies and Empchild, your flawless host, is great!, so is the few of your EMPCHL i've seen! Congrats and keep it on!
