Subject: Man-Portable Bright Lance ideas?

Some background: I'm in the process of making a Dark Eldar army, but due to my intense dislike of the Dark Eldar Warrior plastics, I'm using converted Eldar Guardians instead. This much, is fine. I'm also using the bright lances from the guardian support platforms on the Raiders to make the dark lances more obvious, this also is fine.
By problem is that I want some warriors with Dark Lances, and the issue is size as to be consistent with the Raiders, the man-carried dark lances sould look like bright lances. Dark Eldar don't have grav-support platforms, they carry their special weapons by hand. And all the Bright Lances I've ever seen are much too large to be carried by a guardian. Any ideas?

Put it on the back of a slave, grab the kneeling legs of say a guadsman, the wounded head, two straight arms with no weapons, some greenstuff and a torso. follow the example on the picture for my idea:
|
As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time. |

The slave gunbearer idea is cute and fluffy - my only concern is game play and LOS, as ruleswise this is supposed to be a single figure? I guess you'd be ok if you tell opponents that the slave is only for looks and is invisible for LOS issues (it can even be removed temporarily for HtH combat).
Another modelling idea would be to use 'captured' Eldar grav platforms, but again you'll have to tell opponents what is 'visible' for game purposes to avoid confusion.

I think the idea proposed by Red9 would work out great. All you have to do is base the slave weapon bearer separately and then have the gunner based so he can stand behind. LOS would only have to be from the slave model, and that's that!

Deadly Dark Eldar Warrior
|
I have only just started building a DE army, like you i hate the original warrior sprues, and am using the dire avengers as warriors (slightly converted).
I was also planning on using bright lances as dark lances.
I havent begun working on it yet. But i had 2 ideas in mind:
1: replace the large back of the bright lance with something smaller, i was thinking of the original dark lance, cut of the barrel and ad the barrel of the bright lance.
2: model the lance on a steady mount, like http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/02/20/steadicam-mounted-rifle/ and then eldar style ofc. is gonna be hard to do, but it would make it look plausible.

All the ideas here are great.
For the rules issue. Just treat the slave/waepon platform just like the Eldar codex treats theirs:
It doesn't exist. LOS is drawn from the 2 gunners, and if both gunners are killed, the weapon is removed. Its just a place holder.
