Hello all! I'm new here to Dakka, and would like to post this EXTREMELY rough draft of some fluff for my Space Marine Army. Please feel free to provide constructive criticism or ask any questions. I am attempting to make this army as beliveable as possible within the already rich 40k universe. Thank you very much in advance for the feedback!

Out of respect of the Sensei, and to represent the act of freeing ones bonds from the controlling nature of Chaos and Imperial Inquisition this chapter is named the Free Marines.
One of the Lost Primarchs is picked up by the Illuminati and slowly builds a contingent of space marines. The Primarch, being subjected to the warp, was possessed by a greater demon and under the supervision of the Illuminati exorcised the demon through his own sheer will. He does not trust the Ordo Hydra despite multiple attempts to bring him within the circle.
The Free Marines may have contact with the Dark Angels, and may be utilizing the Dark Angels as their front for deep cover missions.
Recruitment and training closely resembles that of the Exorcists. They rely on recruits from other space marine chapters converted to the ideology of the illuminati. Because of the culmination of forces from different units/creeds/doctrines, there is a mixture of personality within the Free Marines.
Due to their highly secretive existence, the Free Marines will not allow themselves to be taken captive, and thus attempt to end their lives before this can be achieved. There are certain accounts of Free Marines being rendered unconscious, and therefore unable to commit seppuku, at which their battle brothers attempt a retrieval, or termination if this is impossible. This exception allows the existence of dreadnoughts within the army.
Fleet includes one battle barge, 2 strike cruisers, 4 hunter destroyers, 2 nova frigates
As with the illuminati, these marines have been known to work with the Eldar. These marines have both engaged and struck loose alliances with the Tau when the need arises.
Most of the recruiting done by the Free Marines comes from converted Imperial Guard Units. On occasion the Free Marines are able to convert other Space Marines. Because these marines recruit from weathered combat forces, there are few inexperienced warriors among them. To simulate this, their scouts utilize rules for Space Wolf scouts minus the special rules for Space Wolves. Converts from the Dark Angels Raven Wing squadron formed the Screaming Eagles and follow similar squadron makeup from the Raven Wing. Dark Angels make good recruitment candidates due to their sense of achieving redemption. They find that the Illuminati provide the ultimate chance for this in bringing about the resurrection of their Emperor.
