I like it, and you will be in there face in turn 2 at worst lol. Out of curiosity do you not think the upgrade to stardragon is worth the 70 points, or was it you would rather have something else in your list (musicians and champs on the last dragon prince unit, musicians in the rest)?

I was tempted to go the star dragon, and I suppose 1 unit of shadow warriors gone and I can afford it... hmmmm

Not going to go aggressive magic with the Dragon Mage? For 5 more points, you could switch to Silver Wand and Ring of Fury and just spam the crap out of magic-missiles and other Fire Lore spells. You can't really use him as a combat guy until late-game, but he becomes a huge pain in the ass to your opponent. (~7PD + bound item by himself)

Drop the SoM for a Halberd instead. Same +1S bonus for cheaper (no shield, so you don't lose out on anything).

Hmm well i would think that then you are really vulnerable to beast cowers, only 3 dd and no scroll means my lvl 4 rof, lvl 2 are getting it off at least once (the second time its a dice off so about 40% say it will go off) I can use RoF on dragon mage and kill it, even the 2d6 s3 will cause a wound and bolt thrower spell can kill a DP or maybe hurt a dragon. So i would be wary of going offensive. Of course if the enemy has no access to beast then your probably better off, just watch out for 2d6 s4 that can kill your mage relatively quickly as well as any bound spells.

I'm very concerned by metal lore.

However the offensive mage is a great idea.

I had aimed to hide the dragon mage until turn 3 or so then flank/rear charge/terror bomb.

Just realised that I'd be taking this late next year if I did, and most tourneys then are 2500 points, which is another unit of 6 Dragon princes.

Why are you concerned with metal, your 4 main units, DPs, Stardragon are immune to all but 2 spells (CC one and Law of Gold), shadow warriors get hurt by 2d6 s4, but are safe from 2d6 s2 no armor save, same with archers, eagle takes 2d6 s4 but otherwise its 2d6 s1... Again the dragon mage is the best target but its only s3 against the dragon and s1 against the mage (do you randomize before determining strength, i assume you do).
If anything i think you are practically immune to metal, just say goodbye to your shadow warriors, archers and eagles as that is all they can reliably target.
Theoretically if they do get law of gold on the prince, remember you nominate an item and make sure its not AOC.

Yeah, but tzeentch mages usually go for another lore anyways, Glean can be and Bolt of Change is not flaming so Lords of Change can still do something (probably).
now the rest of the army is up a creek, flamers do nothing, same with horrors of less than 25 i believe.

I'm liking the offensive mage more and more.

I think I'll go back and redo this list later tonight for 2500 points.

Its like brets, but without a ward save, archers who can shoot and 2 dragons!

Dear lord that makes me sick.

I'm going to discuss the options with the tourney organiser as lists can be sent back for resubmission if they are too OTT and I think throwing in the banner of sorcery really does push it OTT.

But the banner sorcery with a part defensive mage (the scrolls) is great, however the all offensive mage does fit more with th e'all or nothing' theme better.

I could drop one of the shadow warrior units, beef up the remaining one and take the banner sorcery....

As I said I'll post again later. This is spectacularly OTT. HA!

My AB files give me a point cost of 621 on the Prince, which makes the list come in at 2251, and thus illegal. Am I missing something?

No, my guess was a typo when he did his prince (added 5 instead of 15 etc). But drop amulet of light and lance and take sword of might for similar effectiveness.

Similar, but the AoL + lance/halberd option gives the Stardragon Magical attacks as well.

Yeah you definitely want the AoL on the Star Dragon, I took a list similar to this to this years UK GT and in one round got absolutely battered by an ethereal vamp counts army thanks to my lack of magical attacks, if i take it again next year I will definitely be taking an AoL on the Star Dragon.

That said Dragon Armour is my new favorite toy, its great when Skulltaker and a Bloodthirster run away from your entire army its priceless!
