Next big project is a Khador army for Warmachine

I didn't want to do the red color scheme and instead go with a lighter color that can be weathered easier. I was going to use a desert yellow kind of color for my base but then I decided to use space wolf gray instead.

I'm starting with the starter pack, juggernaut first. I primed it white, then painted straight space wolf gray on the armor, straight boltgun metal on the metalic parts and straight dwarf bronze on the bronze part. The red patch is red gore with blood red highlights. Then, I just slathered on some Badab Black wash over the whole thing

Next I wanted to look like he's seen a lot of action, but more a wear & tear kind of look than a battle damage look. I mixed up a mix of boltgun metal, chaos black and dark flesh, and then I painted that on the edges in random spots, for an old rusted paint-scratched-off-a-trash-truck metal kind of look

And then I broke out the powders. I love this stuff. I'm using Doc O'Brien's powders. I tried to dirty it up a lot.

Next I have to spray some varnish on it so I don't rub the powder all off, and then I'll go and start adding some highlights. May not get to do that till saturday since it's dark when I get home from work and I won't be able to see what I'm spraying

wadaya think so far?

It certainly looks beaten.

I'd probably take some of the powder of the ax, it seems to have bit too much.

Why are you doing powdering before highlights? I've understood that common way of working is to add the powders last before final varnish.

I'm not done with the powders. since a lot of it will be lost when I varnish, I was gonna varnish it so what I did add will stay in place, and then add some more but it will be more like streaks from rain, orangy-red rust around the rivets, stuff like that. But I gotta wait a bit now since even if I could varnish today, it's raining :( stupid hurricane ida...

OK here's some more pics. I gave it a wash with rubbing alcohol to get the powders to stick better. As a result a lot of powder got rubbed off as I was brushing the alcohol on but I really like the effect it made, kinda looks like the grime is worn off in some areas.

next I will be doing some more powder/alcohol washes to get some bright orangey rust areas in some spots.

wadaya think?

It looks now significantly better than previously. The powders are now subtle and fit in the model.

Finished the Juggernaut I think I may change the base and paint it black instead of red. I was thinkin red for Khador, but I dunno if I'm feelin it

Destroyer will be up next
