Cant make up my mind which is better.

ARMY 1

HQ-1 = chaos lord-power sword, plasma pistol, melta bombs.

TRP-1 = 4x CSM- 1 with flamer
1x aspiring champion-power sword, plasma pistol
all mounted in rhino

TRP-2 = 4xCSM - 1 with melta gun
1x aspiring champion - power fist, plasma pistol

ARMY 2

HQ-1 = chaos lord-power sword, plasma pistol, melta bombs.

Uhh, I'm not a huge fan of plasma weaponry, specially when you have so few troops.

I think the second one with the extra bodies. That's over 50% more troops than the ARMY 1 list.

Have you thought about a Daemon Prince? He's about the same price as Chaos Lord with upgrade, and he's beefy all around.

tbh though, both SEEM quite poor, I'd drop the PP off the lord and maybe even rhino's. at 500pts you need firepower and troops...

what kind of theme are you aiming for? (undivided, cult or what?) and I'll try 2 help you from there?

I'd definately keep the obliterator and you may aswell go for a sorcerer instead of lord as he'll have a FW aswell...

130 points for a Daemon Prince w/ Wings. He's immune to the instant death rule, and a monstrous creature with +5 invuln save. The Chaos Lord is just too cool though! and he can actually wield weapons....Haha, just citing some information

If you only have a choice between a power weapon and a lightning claw, always take the lightning claw (for consistant damage potential).

CSMs: ehh…Hell no to plasma weaponry on the expensive champs.
I say another Marine would be better.
Actually, at these low points you want as many bodes as you can get.
That one champ costs similarly to 3 CSMs

Generally CSM fairs poorly in under 1500, as their troop choices are pretty points intensive to get any competitive footing, and then don’t have enough points for supporting elements.

So… IMO focus on more bodies with some tricks, and not ‘more tricks with low bodies’.
Like your second list.

thanks for your advice i have come up with a different list which IMO is far better than the previous two armies.
This is an emperors children army.

Oh yeah and im going to play against a 500pts eldar army with an autarch, wraithlord, rangers, and dire avengers.
I have a couple points to spare as the game is not strict 500pts and im wondering if I should add a rhino.

Your lord is just rubbish (what the hell he is going to do with meltabombs if there is no tanks). He needs Mark of Nurgle and deamon weapon (150 points). This will beat up the wraithlord (dw wounds on 4) before it get chance to hit back (if he does you are dead). Give only flamers (no champs) to csm squads. With left over point you can buy 3 extra marines

You are going to suffer against the wraith lord, with your current list.
I would have also gone for MON lord instead of Slaanesh as w/ most eldar models will still be striking before your lord even w/ mark of slaan.

You can't kill wraithlord with blissgiverlord. Lord has only str of 4

Lord: don’t get a power weapon: if you do go cheapo get a lightning claw.
You call it a EC army yet don’t fork out for MoS?

EC with no noise marines?
5CSM are rubbish IMO, and 500 is just a terrible points limit to go at for Chaos.

Run combat patrol rules or go to 1000 points IMO.

Foot flamers just don’t work.
Oblits is highly hit or miss, stray str 8 is worse cause there’s no armor for them to attract that fire.

If I had to come up with something fluffy:


Lord, Claw, Wings.
6 NM, Blastmaster, Rhino .
5 NM, Champ, Siren, Rhino.

Lord joins siren squad to form 6 man squad.
BM (though an expensive weapon) does provide fluffy cover fire, nice box to hide in.
Other protects the ‘combat’ squad until they can get into combat.

It’s not crazy competitive, but it’s 500 and IMO that’s impossible. So go for fluffy.

FINAL ARMY

HQ-1 = chaos lord-(MoN, plaguebringer)-150pts

TRP-1 = 5x Noise marine (5 sonic blasters) -125pts

TRP-2 = 5xCSM - (1 flamer, mounted in rhino, chaos lord joins this squad)-110pts

TRP-3 = 5xCSM (1 meltagun)-85pts

HVY-1 1xObliterator-75pts
