Has anyone come across a played a DE cav army based around units of Dark Riders, Cold one knights and Chariots?

was thinking what about using the Dark riders to line up false charges and then flee leaving unit for counter charges from knights and/or chariots.

Char wise was thinking of maybe 2 x lvl 2 power casters item wise and a master kitted out for damage dealing. Or the other option was a lvl 1 scroll caddy and 2 masters kitted out for combat but one with the Hotek ring?

Not sure if this army will be a one shot pony or not but for extra punch could take RBT's and maybe mount one of the masters on a manticore?

Just an idea.

I've seen plenty of armies that are nothing but dark riders, mtd mages and a lord on dragon.

But that is at 2000+ points. I assume a hero on manticore would do the same at 1500 pts.

Was the armies you have seen effective or not?

I am only just getting back into playing aint played for a couple of years but going back to competitive scene. I have always liked DE as an army as they cover all bases usually.

Very, very effective. You can't pin the buggers down and the dragon and lord terror bomb your army, and flank/rear charge FTW!

Just found out i am playing New Skaven tonight. 2000 pts.

Lord on Dragon

2 x lvl 2 with anti magic gear

1 x master on a manticore

4 units of 6 Dark riders

3 units of 7 cold one knights

2 chariots

4 RBT's

You can't actually field that in a 2000 points army. Both the Dragon and Manticore take an extra Hero slot, which means you are 2 Hero slots over the limit.

Besides, I wouldn't worry about their shooting too much, you better worry about their Storm Banner. No flying and -2 to all shooting when your opponent says so!

A terror causing monster always works well with theese. Id go for a manticore since if you're playing 2k+ a dread lord on one does not take up an extra hero slot. As for 1500pts id make a core of dark riders with at least 10 Cold one knights and two chariots. I think for theese its best to field cold ones in 7s with a 1x7 formation. Get some harpies as well they're not cavalry but i think they are accepted. I have never played a full cav army since its not my kind of army but they are effective. As for heroes id chooose.

SORCERESS............... 197
lvl 2, dark steed, pendant of Khaeleth, tome of furion.

Be careful against skaven. They'll try to shoot you to hell and back (Though, hell, when wouldn't they). Try to counter this with the Dragon/Manticore.

Did not end up playing but have got a game tomorrow against Dwarfs. Not sure how to approach this either heavy magic or heavy mounted combat?

3 x 6 dark Riders - Champ, RXB's

7 Cold Ones knights - FC, Banner of Slaughter

6 Cold One Knights - FC. War Banner (Master goes here)

8 Shades - Champ

2 x War Hydra's

Cant remember full points cost of top of my head but was about 2K.

Against Dwarfs don't take any magic. It will give you more points to play with and your opponent will probably stock up on anti-magic items which will be a waste.

High Strength troops are good at killing dwarves. Cold ones, chariots, hydras, dragons, manticores and exicutioners (if you want some infantry) are good choices.

Your BSB can't have a magic weapon... Other than that, looks better than any of the lists I play.

The BSB can have a Magic Weapon. A BSB which is carrying a Magic Banner can't take any other Magic Items.
