Ok so I broke out the space wolves codex and did the math.
Figured you could take 4 squad of terminators and the HQ in a 1500 point army.
My question is how sucess full would this list be? I am not a Space marine player, but love the terminator miniatures. I thought about collecting them, but I am wondering how succesful would it be. I am thinking of deepstriking them all in pods.
I mean i wouldnt want to fight 40 terminators, but then again they might all die quickly.
Let me know what you think.

Depends what their armed with. Once those pods come down, your terminators are pretty immobile and easy to avoid. Most mech armies can then isolate and pick on just one squad at a time to whittle them down to the point of irrelevant.

I was thinking of doing a pod with termies with flamers 2 auto cannons and 2 cyclone missile system. seem like the only benifit of the drop pod is getting in really close guaranteed for shooting.
I guess the place for the TH/SS is in a landraider.
Like i said its not the army I use the most.

Mate, im not sure you did your maths right. Its 200 points for FIVE termies according to the codex, not ten.
Im aware its slighty cheaper squadding up to ten, but what would ten cost? 360 or something? I dont have the codex infront of me but you might be wrong.
40 termies plus your HQ would be more than 1500 points though right?

Mattyrm, your looking at the wrong codex.
In the space wolves codex, termies are 33 points each, so a ten man squad is 330pts.

Nooooooo don't even think about all terminator. Firstly you can't deep strike with SW terminators. So your going to need to transport them some how. Land Raider crusader is the best option since it sits 16. You want take the heavy weapon so you are limmited to the following combinations. 6T+4=16,5T+5=15,4T+6=14,3T+7=13,2T+8=12 Personally i think 5,5 split is best, unless you're joining them with a terminator HQ then take 4,6 split. So arming them. Don't be tempted in taking all the upgrades on the terminators. However some upgrades work better with the terminators. If taking ... thunder hammers, powerfist, chainfist and wolf claws then the terminators are better. Power weapons, storm-sheilds, combi-weapons, frost blades and mark of Wulfen then they work better on normal guys.

I think what people are missing with Logan Grimnar is that they want to make these all terminator armies but it actually cheaper and better to just take base Wolfguard w/ nothing or very cheap options.
Logan Grimnars biggest benefit is freeing up Elite slots so you can take other elites and not fill them up with wolfguard.
That's a pretty big benefit.

You dont want 10 terminator guys. Out of a squad of 10 (assuming youve got some expensive firepower there) you want atleast 3 to be bog standard storm shield power armour wolfguard.
Then, you want one or two power-fists (perhaps 3) per 10 to round it off.
Personally, I think you should have two combi-weapon squad, one melta & one plasma/flamer (like 4 of plasma, 1 of flamer), then a ranged squad (i.e longfangs + cyclone dude - easily taken from the combi-melta squad) annd then a more hardcore combat squad. Bases covered. Use logan. Job done.

Could footslog the termies.
Lorgan Grimnar: [275]
10x Wolf Guard termies: 2x CML, 1x Chainfist: [405]
10x Wolf Guard termies: 2x CML, 1x Chainfist: [405]
10x Wolf Guard termies: 2x CML, 1x Chainfist: [405]
Twelve STR 8, AP 3 shots per turn.
Nasty, gonna destroy mech, but have problems versus landraiders.

Its actually a little goofy but when you create a Wolfguard squad and making ten of them you should ultimately just include power armour with powerfist.
It's a lot cheaper and you just need 2 guys w/ powerfists
You can also fit more in a Crusader w/ 5 terms and 5 normal guys.

Logan: [275]
10x Wolfguard termies: 2x CML [390]
10X Wolfguard termies: 2X CML [390]
5x Wolfguard: 5x Combi-plasma [115]
5x Wolfguard: 5x Combi-melta, Power Fist [ 135]
4x Wolfguard: 3x Combi-melta [87]
3x Drop pod: [115]
Not all termie but it allows you some serious firepower as well as 5 troop-choices @ 1500pts.

I recognize that there are probably better build and probably better units. I also recognize its not an even 1500 points, but with a few termies dropped here it will fit.
I guess i have killed terminators so easy in the past. I am not sure they are worth it the price. That is my real question, and as I dont own the army and haven't played them.
The last thing i want to do Is build an army around a bunch of 500+units that get taken down by a few turns of fire.

Alo Jerry, i think a horde army would mash your guys as you simply dont have the numbers, i tried a mech heavy game vs the orcs and after dding all my bad ass armour i only had 20 infantry on the field and i got mashed. I simply dont think youd have the numbers. :S

logan says wolfguard count as troops, it does not say maybe taken as troops. so this is a no go.
so you can use them to hold objectives in 5th.

ah cute .... Troop choices take up troop slots in the FOC. Elites take up elite slots in the FOC. Doesn't matter what it was; if it becomes troop then that is what it is ....

Troops in regards to the FOC = Troops in regards to capturing objectives. There is no real difference. Edit: TriNinja'ed! What logan & wolfguard do best is beefing up grey-hunter squads to powerful proportions.. who cares about dual special weapons when you have relentless podding multi-meltas. They are designed to fight in combat well & do it cheaply. I think people focous too much around wolfguard & that they can be taken as troops whilst forgetting two more important factors; Grey hunters & their awesomeness and the ability to split of wolfguards to join grey hunters. Sure, a strong CC orientated squad (that's also scoring) of wolfguard in addition to the above, is a fine thing.

I've played the amazing 8 man Grey hunters joined by wolf guard with terminator armour and assault cannon in a drop pod i really like this (and its sister unit with a CML) they just tear up what they hit. And the remaining 8 wolf guard can form specialised close combat units (i've had some good success with 8 jump packs with 3 combi-meltas and 3 fists )

I don't see much of a problem with it, tactically that is. I can get 25 basic guys for 825, split however you want them. If you stop looking at them like your end all be all hammer unit that's not a bad notion for a normal guy.
Logan
5x5man units
2xdreads
2xspeeders
52 bolter shots, 4 MM shots a turn
Doesn't look too bad to me, but I've never run DW before.
flavor termies up to 1500. I don't have a dex handy to do it.
