Having been playing a
SoB army for a while now, i decided that i should stop putting it off and get my two flying canonesses built.
I wanted the two models to represent different aspects of the Adepta Sororitas - The pure, angelic side, and the bloodthirsty 'purge the unclean' side. Given that all i have to work with in the model range is big lumps of metal, I've tried to keep the conversions simple but noticeable. My
GS skills are not great, in fact this is the first time I've ever used it :S Both figures require a few touch-ups and more work on the bases but i am pretty happy with what i have so far.
The first Canoness is the Angelic one.
This was made from a Seraphim superior with the plasma pistol removed and replaced by the book from the regular Canoness, the power sword clipped off and replaced with an Eviscerator. The backpack is the Canoness pack with Swooping hawk exarch wings pinned to the sides of it.
The second one is a bit meaner.
This was a bit of a pain to make. First i clipped the upper body off an unfortunate seraphim and pared down the cloak and back of the upper legs with a modelling knife. Next up was removing the lower body from the Canoness model; this proved tricky as it is one big lump and i wanted to keep the cloak in place. This took about an hour with a pair of clippers. These two parts were then pinned together and a little
GS was used to reform the tabard/skirt.
The upper arms are from the striking scorpion exarch, filed down to look more like muscles then a padded suit. the hands are from the Canoness blister and the whole array is pinned together. Some of the cloth around the shoulders had to be clipped out to allow the arms to take a natural pose, these gaps have been roughly closed with
GS and i have started to remould the cloth in accordance with the new pose.
The backpack is the regular seraphim one, with the banner from the
whfb skeleton set pinned into the top of it. More detail will be added to this when i get another chance to work on it - I quite fancy using
GS to make it look as if the entire thing is on fire
My usual apologies for the shoddy picture quality, but C&C are very welcome.
