Hey there,

My codex is on-order so maybe there are answers in there, but I was wondering... how do you model Cadian veterans, conscripts and penal troops?

I know that either conscripts or veterans have white markings on their helmets... if someone could tell me which way round it is... and I believe the marking is the transfer of the skull in the little "house"?

I also wanted to know what people use as model stand-ins for penal troopers... I thought about buying some catachans for the purpose?

Could I see some pictures of penal troopers?

I use various plastic heads, eg cadians & WFB empire - the ones with beards.
Also mix the weapons up, autoguns, shotguns etc and add backpacks from the heavy weapons kit or from other manufacturers (eg Pig Iron, West Wind & MaxMini).
Also festoon them with grenades & knives.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Ah thanks; one more question:

What role do Kasrkin fill? Stormtroopers?

Probably work

Generally Kasrkin are used as storm troopers or in a few instances I've seen them done as Veterans because of their Carapace Armor. Ultimately, I'm sure you could use them for whatever you wanted to, so long as your entire army was consistent, although, I've got to say, an army of Kasrkins as infantry would definately be expensive.

I think I have about 30 of them so far, and I generally use them for IST, but I also have them stand in as stormtroopers when I'm playing IG.

The conscripts have a white stripe down the center of their helmet because they're called Whiteshields. I think the skull in the little "house" is the cadian army marking, not specific to any one unity type. Hope that helps

If you have a shotgun and a roll of duct tape, you can solve any problem
