To start off with my space marine army is painted blazing orange Im focusing on my terminators atm, ive just finished 5 (il get some pictures up soon when i can get hold of a camera!) I bought the space hulk terminator librarian (cause he looks 10 times better than the metal GW one and was also cheaper i love ebay.....) but i dont know how to paint him....

Now the tradition way of painting a terminator librarian is blue, with the chapter shoulder pads, but i just think a dark(ish) blue with bright orange shoulder pads will look stupid.... Now i have to put some orange on him somewhere so he "ties in with the army" and i dont lose 100s of points in tournies!

So any ideas of how i could paint him? Do you recon he would look fine traditional style?

Cheers guys

Blue and orange are complimentary colors - he'll look fine.

You could do blue wiht orange flames on the shoulder, or vice-versa, with the emblem layered over the flames.

I cant do flames :( one thing i thought of is to paint him in my chapter colours then paint his helmet/pschic hood blue. Then again i might just do what brother SRM says, if i dont like it then im sure it will grow on me.....

Yeah, blue+Orange shoulder pads should look fine, I'm kinda curious though, what chapter is orange?

You know you dont HAVE to paint your librarian in blue. It IS your mini paint the guy friggin pink with neon green polkadots if you wanted too. Paint his body however you want to paint him. You could paint the body in a white and the pads in the orange, those colors go very well together

whah? Well anyway... they mix chapters all time to make new ones, i may not have a reason for them mixing yet but that shall come, or i just wont mention it

EDIT: Yeah i know but ive always been for the blue libs, black chaps, white apoths etc etc. thing, but a white lib would look cool

Yea do the body in an antique/off white color and the pads in blazing orange. My wife repainted her nids that way and they look really nice in those colors

QFT!

Orange is a barely used, but very effective color...i used blazing orange on the prison suits on my penal legionnaires, a was of devlan mud an TAA-DAA!the perfect prison-warriors...i know you're talking about a librarian but i thought i might as well mention my IG lol

Does your army have a secondary (like trim or weapon) color that isn't orange? If so you could paint the librarian the opposite way.

Example: on normal marine main color is orange trim is gray.

So for librarian main color is gray trim is orange.

Also orange for the win not many armies use orange but those that do almost always look great.

If you care. The Imperium doesn't mix geneseed. The closest to that would be the genetic manipulation that happened during the 21st (Cursed) Founding. Each of those chapters has a major flaw. Now a Blood Angel successor with Knightly trappings would be cool.

The Librariian would look fine in orange. You have a great deal of latitude on color. Some chapters have all blue to no blue on Libs. One chapter I painted only had a blue arm similiar to this one: http://kufspawn.deviantart.com/art/Celestial-Dragon-Librarian-104800007

A kind of orangish color one I found:

If you want to stick to fluff their the same blue as Ultramarines and have the colour of their chapter in one of their shoulder pads. The other one will be whatever colour they are normally in your army. But, like others have said you can paint it anyway you don't even need to include the blue they usually have.
